The upcoming Cities: Skylines by Colossal Order is now only a month away. The city-building game is due to come out March 10th and has a new trailer to show off.

I took a look at the game a little while ago and was impressed by the ambition and vision of the game. If the game lives up to the promise and has a good launch, I could see myself sinking in a lot of hours. It's been a while since there's been a good city builder available and it's even nicer that we look set to get a same-day release on Linux.
There's a pre-order campaign with bonus content for those who take the leap of faith and purchase before the release date. It should count as a Linux sale as the steam page shows the Tux icon. The extra items might be a nice little bonus but, as always, we caution you to wait until the game is confirmed to work well before you buy it.
You can preorder either the normal version or deluxe version either on Steam or directly from the publisher.

I bet this game will be incredible. Been following it since it was announced and they it looks like they are really putting a lot of love into it. I'm an unabashed Paradox fanboy for their linux support so take my view with a grain of salt.

+1. Couldn't have worded it better myself!
For anyone interested, I suggest reading through the dev diaries (http://steamcommunity.com/groups/Cities-series/discussions/0/613937306568038527/)

I'll probably take a look at it when it comes out. That is, if I'm not completely broke :D
The Cities in Motions games had a lot of bugs at launch and my main concern is that it won't be a smooth experience from the start. Paradox Development Studios has more or less been steadily improving in QA and bugfixing but the other studios that publish under the Paradox Interactive brand are a little hit or miss. This is a Unity game so performance might also be a concern.

BUT! You SHOULDN'T!
Now, with that out of the way, I look forward to this being released. I really use to enjoy SimCity/SimCity2000 but have not found anything in recent years that I liked. So hopefully I'll end up liking this one.

Aw crap... I wish Unity would just die in a fire already.

I'm in the same boat. I played Sim Earth and Sim City (later, 2000) on a floppy back when I was a kid. So I look forward to any in-depth reviews here on GOL about Skylines.

I am for sure buying this one, not just because I hope it to become the successor of SimCity2k. The first publisher with a city simulation in a long time who usually cares about their products quality at release, and maintain, fix and extend it after the initial release.
And it has workshop support, so we can extend it <3.

So you can buy it from Steam, or you can buy it on Steam direct from the publisher, but either way you are getting Steam. Wish paradox would consider selling Steam free versions of its games.

Looks good, but as the launch of recent games show, pre order is a risky move.
Wish paradox would consider selling Steam free versions of its gamesActually EU IV and CK II works without steam if you want, but dlc and expansions don't are available or can't be activated.

Part of me has been wanting a really good city builder like this. Paradox has been a decent developer for Linux. Crusader Kings II seems to work great. But Warlock 2 has some issues, but those same issue effect the Mac port as well. So I guess I'll gamble on this one because I feel Paradox will pull through on this one.

Oh and the name doesn't mean anything but coincidentally could be pronounced as "Buttery" which suits me just fine.
