Deadnaut is Screwfly Studios' second game and follow up to cult hit, Zafehouse: Diaries. Deadnauts, so named because they’re unlikely to return, must explore, investigate and fight their way through the derelict ships of dead civilisations. Every mission is unique and no two locations are the same.

While we didn't get their other game Zafehouse, it's good to see they have come over to our little platform with their next game!

The reviews are positive so far, but it doesn't have too many just yet so it's probably not too reliable.

The announcement is copied below:
QuoteToday we’re happy to announce the immediate availability of Deadnaut for Linux! If you purchase the game directly from this website or via Steam, you’ll now receive the Linux version of Deadnaut, along with Windows and Mac.

Currently, only Ubuntu 12.04 and later versions are officially supported, however, it should be possible to run Deadnaut on a number of popular distributions. If you’re not sure if the game will run, you can try the demo first, which will give you an idea if your particular configuration is compatible.

Please let us know about your experiences on the Screwfly Studios forums!

I tested the demo on Linux Mint 17.1 64bit and it seemed to run fine, but considering it's built with Unity (well it looks like it's a Unity game from the data structure) I'm not surprised.

It's an interesting game, and I will be looking to spend a bit of time with it eventually to give some proper thoughts on it. I can safely say I haven't played anything like it.

Features
- Squad-based tactics: Control five complex characters as they explore, investigate and fight their way through each mission
- Character generation: Create back stories for your team, mould their relationships and equip them well
- Every game is unique: Dynamically-generated missions and campaigns ensure no two mysteries are the same
- Flexible and complex: Adapt to your situation with an arsenal of weapons and shields, or use stealth, hacking and sensors to move unnoticed
- Out of control: Deadnauts have their own fears, motivations and dispositions. Stay in charge, keep in contact, don’t let them out of your sight

For a second there I was excited; then I realized I was thinking of "Dreadnought" when I read "Deadnaut." :P

I very much like the concept. It brings back all those Aliens-like memories.
