Besiege is a physics based building game in which you construct medieval siege engines and lay waste to immense fortresses and peaceful hamlets.
It was already on Linux via the Humble Store, but it’s now also on Steam for Linux. We never covered the original release, so here we are! We got quite a few messages about it, so I guess people are pretty fond of it, and it has a very good rating on Steam.
It’s an Early Access title, so be warned, it’s in the early stages! Bugs and all!
Initial Thoughts
I've tested it out for a little bit, and overall I find it very impressive. The visuals are very clean and great to look at, and the performance seems close to perfect on my Nvidia 970, so your performance will vary of course.
I can’t stand games that make building whatever it is complicated or annoying to use, and Besiege keeps the builder very simple and easy to use, so I love it. It doesn't mean making a working death machine is easy though, and I've had a few failed attempts with a flaming ball falling off my machine and setting it on fire, oops.
I couldn't really work out how to actually make a catapult for a while, so I mounted a cannon on a wooden frame, fired it, and the whole thing fell apart, hah! I am possibly the worst engineer in the world.
It’s a great starting point, but needs a little more explanation of how to get things going, and as far as I could tell there isn't much in the way of help.
About the game (From Steam)
Besiege is a physics based building game in which you construct medieval siege engines and lay waste to immense fortresses and peaceful hamlets. Build a machine which can crush windmills, wipe out battalions of brave soldiers and transport valuable resources, defending your creation against cannons, archers and whatever else the desperate enemies have at their disposal. Create a trundling behemoth, or take clumsily to the skies, and cause carnage in fully destructible environments. Ultimately, you must conquer every Kingdom by crippling their castles and killing their men and livestock, in as creative or clinical a manner as possible!
Grab it from Steam or Humble Store (Humble have it DRM free + Steam key!).

Looks like a really unique game and at $6.99 is definitely affordable.

I got this since Beta V0.02. Easy to learn, endless possibilities and pretty fun. Runs also flawlesly on my Nvidia GT840 notebook (for contraptions with less than ~70 parts).
Highly recommended for anyone into the KSP sort of game. It has not too many features and just a few levels already implemented at this time, but a very solid physics engine, efficient and clean interface and good potential are clearly there!
Get it now! :-)

Instabuy from my side.
Runs absolutely perfect on my outdated Radeon HD6950 from 2011

I am enjoying it very much right now. I made a bomber that you can beat all 15 levels with. The game looks and feels really nice. Wings though, no idea what they are suppose to do.
