Age Of Wonders III Now In Open Beta For Linux

We only wrote about the release of Age Of Wonders III due in April recently, and now they have already opened the Linux beta!

We are hoping to get a test key, so until then we can’t give you our thoughts on the title, or the port. Unless someone has a butt load of cash and doesn't mind parting with some to deposit a copy into our laps, we will wait. Please, don't actually do that!

You can see the official announcement here.
QuoteThis is the first open beta for Linux. Please help us find any compatibility issues by posting in the dedicated Linux section of the Open Beta Forum

There is currently an issue with launching the game on 64-bit Ubuntu when clicking ‘Play’ in the Steam Client. The game won’t boot.
Workaround:
1. Find the AoW3 steam install directory (Steam Library > AoW3 > Properties > Local Files > Browse Local Files)
2. Type: cd (Replace by the directory found at step 1)
3. Type: ./AoW3Launcher.run ./AoW3Launcher.sh

About the game (Official)
Age of Wonders III is the long anticipated sequel to the award-winning strategy series. Delivering a unique mix of Empire Building, Role Playing and Warfare, Age of Wonders III offers the ultimate in turn-based fantasy strategy for veterans of the series and new players alike!

I just asked that question on the forum, hopefully we'll hear back.

Most likely.

Keep in mind that performance seems to be pretty bad at the moment. (I suppose that's to be expected from a beta.)

I'm getting 30 fps max at any settings on my i5-3570 and gtx970. (Already sent the specs and performance report to Triumph Studios.)

I'll wait till the final version comes out to get this. Got plenty of awesome Linux games to play now so I'm in no hurry, even though I've wanted this game for a while now :)

Definitely have my eye on this...great to see they have an open beta, that's a great sign.

My thoughts exactly :)
I also really want my purchases to count as Linux sales, so just being safe.
