We wrote about Hero of the Kingdom way back in 2013, and it looks like the porting has finally begun!
Speaking on their steam forum they said this:

About the game (Official)
Set off on a dangerous journey to save your father and the kingdom.
You were living a calm life on your small farm together with your father. One sunny day your life completely changed. Malicious bandits raided your house and burnt it to ashes. Your father is missing. A darkness is falling over the whole country and you are setting off on a dangerous journey to places unknown. You must overcome your fear and find your father. You won't hesitate to take the road. This is going to be the greatest adventure of your life.
Explore a huge beautiful country.
Meet dozens of people and fulfill many various quests.
Collect herbs, hunt for animals, and go fishing.
Find hundreds of scattered hidden items.
Reach up to 38 achievements.

well if you developped the game in OpenGL in the first place that would save a lot of effort

Yeah well hindsight is a wonderful thing isn't it, and we can't expect everyone to start with what would be ideal for us :)

While I totally agree and use OpenGL myself I see why some devs didn't care. DirectX provided much more than only Direct3D. To get the same you'd need to use OpenAL and many more things and combine them yourself, instead of just using a "complete package".
