I have been in touch with the developers of LEGO Minifigures Online, and they have confirmed even with the SteamDB hints that the game is not coming to Linux.

If you didn't see it before, we shared the possibility of it coming.

In reply to my questioning they said this:
Erling Ellingsen, Director of Communications, FuncomHi, Liam!

Thank you for getting in touch.

As of now there are no plans for a Linux version, but we will definitely let everyone know if that changes.

Best Regards

Sad day for LEGO fans on Linux, but it does make me wonder what their Linux entries on the SteamDB page are for. Must just be internal testing that isn't going well.

They could also still be planning it, but could have a surprise launch, or their PR might have it wrong, who knows, but that's their official statement to us on it right now.

We have asked for any information as to why a Linux launcher has shown up, and will update this article if they share information on it.

Update, the PR person also replied to my pasting of the SteamDB page with the Linux info with:
QuoteHi, Liam -

That's very odd, I'll send this over to the tech team.

So, it could very well be a case of the PR department just being out of touch. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

This is the one lego game the lack of support of which won't make me shed any tears at all

Maybe they want to release it for Steam Box and the PR doesn't know that's the same :D

I think someone is confused over there :)
That launcher is there for a reason and besides, there is also a SteamOS test branch present.
Unless they don't consider SteamOS Linux?

I think that this is a very likely answer. I'd recommend emailing them again about it to verify.

Liam, you should know better than that. You didn't share your question, so we can only guess how it was phrased, but obviously the person who answered has no idea that Linux=SteamOS or that there is some work going on behind the scenes, or both. Besides, every single PR manager you will contact will there you 'there are currently no plans to port this game to Linux' even if they are already porting it, so that they don't have to clean the sh*t if the port gets cancelled or takes ages.

Linux gaming has gotten far, now it is headline news when a game is confirmed as not coming to Linux!

A game like this coming to Linux in say 2009 would have been unthinkable. You would probably not even ask the question! :)

The PR contact is always the least valuable contact there is, in journalistic work.
Mail a developer directly instead.Or a graphics artist. Or something like that. Check the employee list. :)

It's unfortunate if true, cause even if this game isn't all that, I bet Funcom are at least partially using their same mmo engine here as their other mmorpgs, so that could also mean the other, far more interesting mmos from them, could be on the way too.

Hmmm....well, I might give it try if it really shows up on Linux. But I hope that it is nothing like LEGO Unviverse, where LEGO was more focused on that crappy Big Bullshit Brother Mode then on the Gameplay itself. My dream would be a LEGO MMO in Minecraft Style :)

PR emails are done through their website, so it didn't actually give me a copy of the exact question I sent.

I basically pasted SteamDB contents to them, and asked about the Linux version with that info.
