You like car games right? Well the crazy and amazing looking Mad Max has been confirmed for Linux/SteamOS. The developers of Mad Max are Avalanche Studios, who are known for the JUST CAUSE series of games.
It’s an open-world game involving a lot of car combat, and we can’t wait to see more of it!

It was confirmed in the press release that SteamOS is a platform for the game! We didn’t get it ourselves, but it has been confirmed through multiple sources that it’s true. You can see one such confirmation below from David Scammell of VideoGamer.
We have tweeted the developers, emailed the developers, and tweeted to the official Mad Max game account to see if we can get a reply directly too, just for extra checking on this that the press release email saying SteamOS wasn’t some strange accident.

Just Cause 2 from Avalance, was an amazingly addictive sand-box experience. It was one of those (very rare) games where you could have tons of fun playing even while ignoring the story or any practical purpose to your actions. If "Mad Max" retains any of this playability and joyfully destructive style of gameplay, then it's going to be a blast!
I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm not usually into car games, but this looks good. I really enjoyed Just Cause 2, so I'm looking forward to this.
I was thinking maybe this could mean that Just Cause 3 will come to Linux, too, but it seems it's not currently planned. Also, Just Cause will be published by Square Enix, while Mad Max is published by WB. Are the games using the same engine, though?

Just Cause 2 was very, very good so high hopes for this.
Kind of wish they'd kept Mel Gibson as the protagonist and called the game "Mad Mel" though. Can just envision a simulator game in which an up-and-coming actor plays increasingly insane characters until he is typecast as a nutcase and becomes insane himself, pisses off all of hollywood then becomes an anti-semitic alcoholic who can only get work in films where he talks to his own hand. You get points for each group of people you offend and alienate and then lose points for blinking and making good films.
I'd play that.

Good news for us. It seems to be an interesting game. Let's hope that the Linux version isn't a bad port

Yes! This means that there is a chance of Just Cause 3 getting a Linux port!
Also, this game itself looks pretty interesting as well. Might actually pick it up if it's any good, even though I usually don't like end-time settings.

Lol. A new AAA game with a DRM free release? No chance in this age unless it's from CDP themselves.
This is good news, although I rather have Just Cause 3 instead. I put a lot of hours into JC2.
