You like car games right? Well the crazy and amazing looking Mad Max has been confirmed for Linux/SteamOS. The developers of Mad Max are Avalanche Studios, who are known for the JUST CAUSE series of games.
It’s an open-world game involving a lot of car combat, and we can’t wait to see more of it!

It was confirmed in the press release that SteamOS is a platform for the game! We didn’t get it ourselves, but it has been confirmed through multiple sources that it’s true. You can see one such confirmation below from David Scammell of VideoGamer.
We have tweeted the developers, emailed the developers, and tweeted to the official Mad Max game account to see if we can get a reply directly too, just for extra checking on this that the press release email saying SteamOS wasn’t some strange accident.

This is good news, although I rather have Just Cause 3 instead. I put a lot of hours into JC2.
Times are changing. The meaning of AAA becomes less relevant. Most of the games I actually care about are released DRM-free already (inXile, Larian, Obsidian, now OtherSide and etc.).

Wonder what happened to the other racing games we were slated to get? I.E. Road Redemption and Gas Guzzlers. I wonder if they are still being developed/ported over?

Sorry, I should have been more clear. By AAA games, I didn't mean quality. I meant the $60 shallow console games with big budgets Those of the type of games you won't see on GoG because they are owned by big corporations.
Nevertheless, I don't particular care whether a game has an AAA budget or not. The games I'm looking forward to this year are Cities Skylines and Pillars of Eternity, and those games are being made on a mid tier budget.

Oh wow - looks excellent! May this mean that Just Cause 3 will come to Linux too?! Cause that release is not too far off.

I strongly disagree there. The market is flooded with smaller indie titles today, more so than I can ever recall it was. Good grief, how many platformers do we have now? And in this flood of ported smartphone apps (or what could have been ported apps) we really, really need the big, costly, grande AAA flagships.

As someone already mentioned, Mad Max is being published by WB, whereas Just Cause 3 is published by Square Enix. Even with the same developer, I would imagine that the distributor would have to be on board with it. I'm only imagining because I don't know who owns the copyright or any of the legal specifics. WB seems to be more Linux friendly than Square Enix right now. That could always change though.
