We are already excited that PAYDAY 2 will see a Linux release, but the icing on the cake is that it will continue to see support and new content for another two years.
They would have to support it for a while anyway, since the Linux release is forthcoming, but another two years for a title that has already been out for nearly two years already is great.
You can see their official announcement about their continued support here, but here's a nice snippet:
QuoteYes! We are very excited about this. We love working on PAYDAY 2 and look forward taking care of our game for two more years, making new free updates, paid DLC's and awesome campaigns together with the community. This is possible because we signed a new deal together with our publishing partner 505 games. Thanks to them, we can continue focusing on making PAYDAY 2 better and better.
I'm guessing the game has been selling pretty well for them to be able to continue supporting it.
About the game (Official)
PAYDAY 2 is an action-packed, four-player co-op shooter that once again lets gamers don the masks of the original PAYDAY crew - Dallas, Hoxton, Wolf and Chains - as they descend on Washington DC for an epic crime spree.
The new CRIMENET network offers a huge range of dynamic contracts, and players are free to choose anything from small-time convenience store hits or kidnappings, to big league cyber-crime or emptying out major bank vaults for that epic PAYDAY. While in DC, why not participate in the local community, and run a few political errands?
Many exciting times ahead!
Thanks for the poke, FutureSuture.

Quoting: morbiusI was very much into this game until I've seen on Steam that it's a Paradox-style DLC fiesta. I hate developers who keep endlessly nickel-and-diming their customers.
i don't see the problem with it as long as it doesn't nerf the original game without DLC

I don't see it being an issue? Why the heck would you ignore a game because they work on giving you additional content that is completely optional?
Because you don't get the full game. they strip the game on purpose and release the parts as "dlc's". if you want all the content in the game you have to pay over 90 euro for it. The game has very few features and is not that fun at all.

Yes this statement bothered me as well. DLC is only a problem if the base game is expensive and doesn't have much content. Otherwise, it's a great way to progressively invest in a game if you really like it. DLC is also the only way a developer can keep producing content for a game post release, hence why Paradox does it, because they support their games over the long term.
I don't know how Payday handles it, but it might impose special problems with multiplayer games. If you've got less and less people you could play with, becoause most oft them get the DLCs and you don't, it might degrade you experience.

Except that isn't necessarily true. The other person brought up Paradox and their grand strategy games certainly are almost entirely complete at launch (feature-wise, not talking about bugs and balance). Why shouldn't they sell optional features that weren't part of the original game plan? In the case of payday it seems that all DLC is either cosmetic or just extra missions for the base game. With regular steam sales, you'll be liable to get them 50 or 75% off or even more. From my understanding the base game has more than enough content to keep people busy for a long time.
