Well there goes my Tuesday night. Outlast, one of the scariest games ever made is releasing for Linux on Tuesday the 31st of March!

The official press release emailed to us was short and sweet:
QuoteWhile the team is working very hard on Outlast 2, we are pleased to announce that Outlast and Whistleblower, its DLC, will be released on Mac and Linux on March 31st, 2015, available on Steam.

As ever, thank you for your interest in Red Barrels.

I highly suggest you prepare for the experience by keeping a new set of undies handy, or a pillow to hide behind.

The Whistleblower DLC will also be on Linux, so we get the full frightening experience.

I can't wait to hear Samsai scream in fear in a future GOL Cast. Let us know if the comments if you want see our Samsai play it (please don't make me, make him!).

About the game (Official)
Hell is an experiment you can't survive in Outlast, a first-person survival horror game developed by veterans of some of the biggest game franchises in history. As investigative journalist Miles Upshur, explore Mount Massive Asylum and try to survive long enough to discover its terrible secret... if you dare.

Check out Outlast on Steam, but remember not to buy it until the release. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Wow, I had even un-wishlisted this game already thinking that it would never happen since I had never heard about its porting again....
Weeeeeell, I can't wait 'till Friday :)

This game was pretty good, the whole run/hide aspect added a good deal to the "horror-feel", compared to the "normal" horror-games where you shoot/blast/whack/slice/pummel and generally abuse anything that looks even remotely scary.

Oh no...

OH YES :D
Oh double yes! :D

That's the game I've yearned for a long time now and I'm so glad I haven't even tested it with Wine.
Definitely a must-buy, and definitely, a must-play for Samsai on the stream... with headphones on and lights out! (no cheating!!!) :D

Mmm the Amnesia games have the same sort of gameplay, and I didn't find them scary (I've only played Dark Decent and Machine for Pigs, I think there's others?). There were a few "jump scares", but other than that, they were basically just exploration games with occasional distractions.

I'm hoping this will deliver what I hoped Amnesia would.

Damn! I couldn't wait so I played this with my roommates (I'm a student) on a Windows laptop :( It is an awesome game, but I don't want to play it again that soon :)

I will, however, play Whistleblower on Linux :) when it is out

I will be tuning in for this show. It's not every day you get to hear a grown man scream like a little girl. *snicker*

Sweet. I've been putting off playing it waiting for a Linux port.
