Sportball Manager is a sports management simulation that takes gameplay from the genre and seeks to make it more accessible by using RPG and strategy elements familiar to all game lovers.

I like the idea of managing a team of sports players, but since I don't like games like Football or Baseball, they never really appealed to me, and it looks like Sportball Manager aims to go in between and solve it.

They created an entirely new sport for it, and a simulation engine to go along with it to play out the matches. Sounds quite interesting, so I hope to play it someday.

About the game (Official)
Sportball Manager is a sports management simulation that takes gameplay from the genre and seeks to make it more accessible by using RPG and strategy elements familiar to all game lovers.

Set in the year 2200, you take the reins of a lowly professional sportball franchise and must work your way back to respectability by signing, trading, and developing players. Along the way you'll make strategic choices during the amateur signing period and free agency, and you'll select new skills for both your players and your franchise as they gain XP from winning games. Do all this without letting your grace period run out, or else it's game over.

They aren't quite ready to let us play it, so for now you can keep track of it on their official website. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

This looks pretty good actually. I'm a big fan of business sims (guilty pleasure) and despise football so quite like the generic sport idea. Just hope of those "25 teams from 25 countries" or whatever, they don't do the standard American thing where 15 of those are teams in the US and then I can't play as Argentina...

Hi there! I'm half of the team working on Sportball Manager. Just wanted to pop in and say that we know what you mean about the "standard American" thing, and our teams will be worldwide. We divided the world into six regions and have four teams per region, so no 15 US teams for us. And we do have a team planned for Buenos Aires. :)

I'm glad you guys think it sounds interesting, and thanks for the article!

I'm very excited by the potential of this game. I too am not particularly fond of football and find soccer to be very boring. I, however, love sports simulations such as OOTP Baseball and am fairly active on WhatIfSports.com. Some will request the ability to watch their club in 'real-time' while they play (rather than simply viewing the results after the games are simulated) but I for one don't think it's necessary. Games such as OOTP Baseball have this feature and I've never used it myself. Will purchase this upon release!!

Thanks Ja$on, that's awesome!

Actually, we've already had a few of the requests you mentioned, and we feel the same way. We just never found ourselves using it very much in games like OOTP, though we know a lot of people like that option.

Thanks for your comment on Steam, too, and we're really looking forward to showing off more of the game in the coming weeks/months! :)
