A few days ago we notified you about signs of Arma 3 coming to Linux, and now it looks even more likely.
If you didn't notice (like me) that Arma 3 now has launch options for Linux directly:
(Thanks SteamDB)
If that doesn't suggest a Linux client is going to release soon, I don't know what will. We've had games add that before, and release a while later though, so it doesn't mean it will be soon. It's also not 100% confirmation of course, but certainly seems likely.
On the SteamDB page for the different depot's the game has, there is also this:
It wouldn't really make too much sense to release tools on Linux without the main game, so we will keep an eye on it.
I've checked through their changelogs, devlogs and everything I could find. There is no mention of Linux anywhere but their SteamDB page.
Good god it's exciting to be a Linux gamer.
You can find Arma 3 on Steam.

I guess devs hate steamDB, it kills the surprise lol.

I wonder if this is a result of me throwing money at my monitor after reading the previous article. :o

It'd be lovely to have a high profile game like this on Linux but I have to worry about performance. I was a fan of Operation Flashpoint but the series lost me a while ago due to bugs and graphics issues. The ArmA games can be very taxing on hardware. Still, if and when it comes out I'll be mighty tempted to pick it up. The military sim aspects of these games are without peer.

Well you can all rest assured if/when it comes out, we will do our usual report on its performance.

I owned the game when it was on windows and loved it... So if this is truly coming to Linux I will be super happy. Although I still have a windows partition I don't like going to it... Though I am guilty of using it to play GTA 5 when it launched (sorry :P).

Awesome, I was hoping one day this would come to Linux, I've owned it since before it's general release, and haven't had time to play it since I rarely get time these days to boot into Windows for very long. Now I'm going to have to figure out a way to get my Logitech G27 (for ground vehicles), Saitek X52 Pro (for air vehicles) and keyboard/mouse (for on foot) all together so that I can easily switch.

Maybe DayZ comming next?

Maybe DayZ comming next?Dayz uses a similar engine to Arma3 (what I read a mix between the old and the new real virtuality) , so I think if Arma3 is ported, there wouldn't be difficult to port Dayz and the old Arma titles too.

so i dont know if there are Server-Binaries for Linux yet (they were planning to do Linux-Servers since beta aswell) - but if there arent, it could also be that this is "only" the dedicated Server Version for Linux?
Edith:
No, https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma_3_Dedicated_Server#Launching suggests Server Binaries are out since ages, so scratch my comment.

If Arma 2 and the original DayZ mod get ported too I will die happy

That was my first thought - never even considered the idea of Arma on Linux. OFP was one of my favourite games ever and I've never really got into Arma 3 as I don't bother with Windows for gaming anymore. This would be amazing but it would be buggy as hell for a long time.

Even though I remember Rocket saying he liked the idea of a Linux version, this could perhaps also actually just be some modding tools to run/compile stuff on a server.

I'm not a huge fan of FPS or tactical shooters, but the more high profile games that comes to Linux the better it gets for all Linux gamers!
