A few days ago we notified you about signs of Arma 3 coming to Linux, and now it looks even more likely.

If you didn't notice (like me) that Arma 3 now has launch options for Linux directly:
QuoteChanged App Config
launch/4/config/oslist: linux
launch/4/description: Launch
launch/4/executable: ./arma3

(Thanks SteamDB)

If that doesn't suggest a Linux client is going to release soon, I don't know what will. We've had games add that before, and release a while later though, so it doesn't mean it will be soon. It's also not 100% confirmation of course, but certainly seems likely.

On the SteamDB page for the different depot's the game has, there is also this:
QuoteArma 3 Tools Experiment - Linux Bin

It wouldn't really make too much sense to release tools on Linux without the main game, so we will keep an eye on it.

I've checked through their changelogs, devlogs and everything I could find. There is no mention of Linux anywhere but their SteamDB page.

Good god it's exciting to be a Linux gamer.

You can find Arma 3 on Steam. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I wonder if this is a result of me throwing money at my monitor after reading the previous article. :o

It'd be lovely to have a high profile game like this on Linux but I have to worry about performance. I was a fan of Operation Flashpoint but the series lost me a while ago due to bugs and graphics issues. The ArmA games can be very taxing on hardware. Still, if and when it comes out I'll be mighty tempted to pick it up. The military sim aspects of these games are without peer.

Well you can all rest assured if/when it comes out, we will do our usual report on its performance.

I owned the game when it was on windows and loved it... So if this is truly coming to Linux I will be super happy. Although I still have a windows partition I don't like going to it... Though I am guilty of using it to play GTA 5 when it launched (sorry :P).

Awesome, I was hoping one day this would come to Linux, I've owned it since before it's general release, and haven't had time to play it since I rarely get time these days to boot into Windows for very long. Now I'm going to have to figure out a way to get my Logitech G27 (for ground vehicles), Saitek X52 Pro (for air vehicles) and keyboard/mouse (for on foot) all together so that I can easily switch.

Oh man if this happens I'm going straight up try SteamOS on my next gaming PC.
