It’s no secret that we really like Interstellar Marines, but it could do with more content and online modes to keep people interested in it. It may even be updated next week.
The developers confirmed to me on twitter that the big update should come next week:

This update should include a Unity 5 build, new online modes like Multiplayer Deathmath, Team Deathmatch and Team Domination as well as fixing the long standing and annoying bug where a key card doesn't spawn in a co-op mission.
We suspect it may get pushed another week based on their other tweets, as it seems the conversion to Unity 5 hasn't been as smooth as they hoped. They may even drop the conversion to Unity 5 for now, and carry on with features due to it taking so long (6 weeks and counting). It’s a shame if they do drop conversion to Unity 5, but the game needs to draw players back in quite badly.
Personally, I would love to see more graphical options be included, so people with weaker PC’s can tweak it a little bit. And for people like me to up it some more!

I liked to play Call of Duty, at least when I found a public server with people not being to childish and aggressive. Is there any suitable game on Linux for me?

I'm also hoping for more good shooters, but maybe something a bit more interesting than CoD; I've played enough brown military shooters, thanks. 
(Though I've gotta admit I really like the look of Advanced Warfare)
Interstellar Marines has potential, but the title reflects the games lack of imagination and identity. I'm not saying it has to have in depth lore and story, but they could at least add a bit more personality. Look at TF2, Fistful of Frags, or Chivalry. Admittedly, TF2 has some story going on in the background, but in the game there's no story in any of these, but they each have there own look and feel. This game in comparison looks like they were trying to emulate Halo's ODST marines and ran out of ideas after that :/ But hopefully they'll surprise me before the full release!

No interest in COD past cod 4 . Don't even want it on linux tbh. Battlefield has gone/ing the same way as COD has too.
Unfortunately they are cash cows and would also show linux gaming as a serious contender/alternative .
But interstellar marines is a unforgiving but rewarding game I've found. If you like tactical shooters you will like this! If you try to go rambo you end up dead around the first corner ;)

Check out Squad. Just got green-lit on Steam and it will have same-day linux support (uses UE4 engine) and looks like they are approaching it correctly.

Having said that there's some conflicting forum posts on the matter.
As someone that had seen the greenlit on steam I was kinda upset that there was no linux mentioned so never gave it a second glance. After a look in their forums it's looking quite promising. It'll run like garbage on AMD though I bet. Still cant get UT alpha to work on mine :(

I would buy/would have bought this game in a second if it was a Singleplayer game. However, if I have interpreted things correctly it's mostly a Multiplayer game, with a "token" singleplayer-mode that (currently) does not offer much of a story/campaign/adventure.
Or has the situation changed since the last time I tried to get a feel for this game?

Great game, but not a lot of people on the servers.
I personnally think the game has great environments, some levels are more beautiful than others., Think of the outdoor ones.
A friend gave me this feedback - not enough weapons.

Wow, just had to post on that forum, quite shady to state Linux on the greenlight when they won't actually support it.
