It's no secret that I'm a big fan of the Win the Game titles, and the last post on the Gunmetal Arcadia dev blog has me very excited, as it mentions a couple of super welcome additions to Super Win the Game.
If you're not already familiar with the game, it's a Zelda II-esque exploration platformer that comes with some of the most satisfying precision platforming around. Check out the launch trailer from last year.
One thing that I really missed when I played the game was a minimap. I played the game obsessively and 100%-ed it the first few days after launch, and since there were no user guides available at the time, getting those last few gems proved tricky. That should hopefully be less of an issue in the future, as the new version will come with a minimap. The post doesn't go into detail about the map, and whether or not it will mark collectibles in some way. The mere existence of one should help a lot in keeping track of where you are and have been in the game though.
In addition to this, a new speedrun mode is now officially a thing that will be coming to Super Win the Game. Being a game that is less focused on pure platforming than its predecessor You Have to Win the Game, it wasn't immediately clear to me how this would work. This quote does a good job of explaining it though:
Sounds like this will cater nicely to fans of the previous game too, and maybe it's an opportunity to add Steam Workshop support to the game through user generated courses.
The blog post goes on to mention that a permanent price adjustment is planned for Super Win the Game in preparation for the upcoming roguelike Gunmetal Arcadia.

This quote does a good job of explaining it though:
QuoteI prototyped the skeleton of a speedrun mode in a day, with options to choose from a number of courses, each of which may prescribe a number of upgrade abilities that may be granted or removed for the duration of the course. In this way, I can build levels with specific abilities in mind and not have to worry about when the player might visit an area or which upgrades they might or might not have and whether they could get stuck. This opens the door to a purer experience, less diluted by adventure/RPG trappings and more directly focused on the fast-paced platforming challenges that have been the core of the Win the Game titles.
Sounds like this will cater nicely to fans of the previous game too, and maybe it's an opportunity to add Steam Workshop support to the game through user generated courses.

These guys make fantastic games! I loved SWTG and looking forward to Gunmetal Arcadia. I thought Eldritch was neat, and I'm playing Neon Struct and YHTWTG now, and both are excellent. It's nice that they keep updating the older games too.

I haven't played any of his brother's games, but I've heard good things about them. They're both very talented for sure.
