Arcen Games has announced a release date for their upcoming 4X strategy game 'Stars Beyond Reach' and has published a video showing off gameplay. They've also published the first of three humorous video shorts presenting the universe and story of the game.
The gameplay sneak peek gives us a good look at the interface and graphical style, as well as a glance at the technology tree and diplomacy aspect of the game.
"Tales of Woe" is the three part series of humorous video shorts, and this first video is meant to reveal some of the backstory of the game.
Last week Arcen Games made a news post on their site, where they revealed that they're aiming for a 5th June release for the game. They plan to start the beta next week, on the 13th, and if you're interested in helping test the game, you can show interest on their forums.
The post also contains images with building graphics for 9 of the 14 races of the game, and there's a pretty broad mix of styles in there. The Peitians seem to have an almost Bavarian architectural style, while the Acutians have a more dystopian sci-fi look to their buildings.

This is from the same company that made "The Last Federation" which was well received. Arcen looks like a great addition to the list of Linux supporters.

Ah! I really like that "humorous video short". It could have been terrible, but it wasn't! There is some risk that I'll have to buy both this AND that game from yesterdays articles - Conflicks - just because of the nice videos. Also, 4X kind of used to be my thing once upon a time so... yeah! ^_^

I fear this could destroy my life.
