Zenzizenzic has recently release for Linux and I hadn't played a bullet-hell games for a while, so I took a look and it turns out to be quite good.
The developer was kind enough to email in a key, and I don't want to pass up checking out a new good looking game!
About the game (Official)
Zenzizenzic hurls you into the abstract perils of a bullet-strewn fever dream. Battle your way through five varied levels in Classic Mode or explore an open world in Macro Mode, both of which are stuffed to the brim with legions of enemies. You'll dodge an onslaught of bullets while returning fire with an awesome arsenal of weapons and power-ups, leaving complete and utter destruction in your wake.
Initial Thoughts
I generally get bored of bullet-hell type games quickly, and while Zenzizenzic doesn't initially look very different, it does have an interesting mode called "Macro". Macro is an open-ended roguelike mode, and that is what has my eye.
These type of games are great time killers in small doses, but due to how repetitive they are by design it's not usually something to play endless amounts of for long periods of time. I thought Zenzizenzic was no different until I tried the Macro mode.
In Macro mode the game expands with new features, items, bosses and more. This is where the game really comes alive, and I highly suggest playing it on the higher difficulty settings to really get you into it. I could easily see myself sinking time into this mode.
The simplicity comes from the fact that the graphics are simple shapes, but what really helps to keep you pumped is the fantastic music included. The gameplay and music fit together like a hand and a glove, as the music is really quite polished for an Early Access title.
The screen will very quickly fill up with colourful enemies and bullets everywhere, but to help you avoid all this mess you do have access to speed up, or to slow down. This enables you to pull off some handy manoeuvres and avoid certain doom.
There are lots of different weapon power-ups, shields and unlockables to keep you entertained, so there's plenty of content. It even has online leaderboards, so I can see how crap I am!
Final Thoughts: It's a great looking and sounding game, so if you like time killers for quick games this is one to check out for sure.
You can find Zenzizenzic in Steam's Early Access section. The game is due for release in the summer sometime.

Hi Liam!
Thank you for the write-up and kind words. You were quick on it! Glad to hear you enjoyed the Macro mode. There is still a lot of work to do on it and I'm making good progress. But it's good to hear that the current implementation is already enjoyable to that extent. It will only get better as the final release date gets closer!
For the readers, if you like what you see and decide to give Zenzizenzic a spin, it'd be hugely appreciated if you could let me know what you think. I'm always looking for feedback to further the game. You can reach me in any way you want, Twitter, on Steam, Zenzizenzic's website, it's all good. Cheers!
Best,
