Hero Siege is a good looking 2D hack 'n' slash RPG that recently released for Linux, I took a quick look so you know what to expect.

About the game (Official)
Hero Siege is one of the most loved indie hack n slash games with roguelike elements! Join the fun now!!

In the depths of Tarethiel a group of monks united the four pieces of the brimstone talisman, waking up the slendering demons below... The Act was fortold in the Ancient Book of Revelations and that Satan would raise from Hell to rule the earth... Someone needs to stop him or else the mankind will soon face extinction!

Some quick thoughts
Performance wise it's solid, and I don't have any complaints there. Haven't come across any bugs either, it also picked up my PS4 controller as soon as it was plugged in. It did give me a 360 controller layout though.

If you like games like Nuclear Throne then you will probably love this. It has a very different style, but the gameplay is quite similar. It does have a little more to it than Nuclear Throne with more abilities and a levelling up system.

It's certainly not easy, and my first run lasted all of 5 minutes.

It does feel quite slow at the start, but I'm not sure if that's just because my character shoots really slowly. You do get to upgrade various statistics as you level up, so I chose to increase my attack speed and it became much nicer. You also learn to love the speed of it when there's a lot of enemies walking about.

It seems the gameplay is based on waves of enemies, and once defeated you get as long as you want to recover. The next wave doesn't start until you want it too, and I quite like that.

Final Thoughts: It's surprisingly good! It has nice graphics, and solid repayable gameplay with a few different characters and lots of enemies. I wasn't going to give it a write up originally, but after trying it out it won me over.

I've this game since a long time, did some tests on Wine but never really played. Now I can play it naively, finally!
