On May 11th, Koji Igarashi launched a Kickstarter for a new game. Called Bloodstain, it is much in the vein of the Castlevania games he's worked on in the past. This is what he had to say:

QuoteIga here. Many years have passed, but it's finally time we meet again. With your help, I hope to create a new game built on some of the classic gaming principles my works are known for. Thank you for your support-- I look forward to leading you in my army of the night!

Concept art, not actual gameplay.

Bloodstain will be available on Xbox One, Playstation 4, Windows, Mac, and Linux (Yay!). It's expect to release sometime in 2017. The Kickstarter page hasn't been up for very long, and it is already well over its goal of $500,000.

As of right now the campaign is well over a million, and has smashed all the stretch goals, wow.

You can find the Kickstarter here.

I don't know about you, but I'm stoked for some classic igavania action. Are you up to the neck with excitement, or maybe just wish developers would come up with more original ideas? Speak out in the comments below!

I absolutely adore the Castlevania games on the DS and have been yearning for more ever since. To get a Kickstarter campaign from the very maker of the Castlevania franchise for a game that will be heading to the PC, specifically Linux, with gorgeous 2D art in high definition is a dream come true. I will buy this when it's out, and I will buy it hard.

I mean, the man has directed/produced Symphony of the Night and Aria of Sorrow, 2 of my favorite games. And, yes, he also directed some of the 3D Castlevania games that were not so good. Still, I'm in. I can't pass up a 2.5D Castlevania game by Iga.

It should be same day release. Most of the games that are taking a while to be ported to Linux use in-house engines. Bloodstained will use Unreal 4 and it will just be a simple export.

I did message the developers asking to clarify when Linux will come, no response.
