It took longer than we liked, but Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth now has the winter update. You can now play with your Mac & Windows friends again.
Not sure why, but clicking the my 2k button in the corner seems to do nothing for me. You’re supposed to be able to register and login to get rewards. I’m not too bothered by that, and I have reported the issue to our friends at Aspyr Media. The more important news is being up to date with Mac & Windows with bug fixes.
About the game
Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth is a new science-fiction-themed entry into the award-winning Civilization series. Set in the future, global events have destabilized the world leading to a collapse of modern society, a new world order and an uncertain future for humanity. I'm disinclined to buying Civ:BE until they add a strategic view akin to that in Civ5. Sure the gfx is nice but I don't play strategy games to admire the views.

This game was a huge let down (coming from a long-time fan of the series). I don't think any amount of DLC or patches will fix it, it's pretty much a lost cause for me.

Hm, I didn't like it from the start. It seemed nothing more than a revamp from Civ5 (which's design I prefer). The only thing that would make me switch are some bugfixes and tweaks in the engine. Shame that they probably won't come to Civ5 as it basically is the same game

The premiss behind this game is interesting. The couple times I played it, it seemed like it lacked that snowball momentum I got when playing Civ V. I might be playing it wrong.

I tried to like this game when it went free for a weekend, and just couldn't. The ui is a mess, and the whole thing feels like a mod for civ v, but with all the fun stripped out. and the beginning is SLOW. way slower and grindier than civ v.
10 hours of gameplay later, and I switched back to civ v. maybe after two expansions and tons of patches (like civ v) ill buy it for $10 in a couple of years.
