The new horror game 'SOMA' from Amnesia developer Frictional Games is due in September, and they confirmed it should be a day-1 Linux release.

@gamingonlinux Mac and Linux ports should be available at launch unless something really weird happens!

Glad they were able to clarify it so quickly, as it's very confusing when developers use the term PC.

I'm very excited about this one, as I love space/future themed stuff and Frictional know how to do horror pretty damn well by now. Even though I'm a big sissy and refuse to play any more than I already have in Outlast, I will try to stream this when it's out for you, I can't promise I won't scream a lot though.

About the game (Official)
SOMA is a sci-fi horror game from Frictional Games, creators of the groundbreaking Amnesia and Penumbra series.

Coming to PC and PS4 in 2015.

The radio has gone silent on PATHOS-2. As isolation bears down on the staff of the remote research facility, strange things are happening.

Machines are taking on human traits and alien constructions have started to interfere with routine. The world around them is turning into a nightmare.

The only way out is to do something unimaginable. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I literally could not play Amnesia The Dark Descent for longer than 30 or 40 minutes at a time. I would have to turn on the lights, turn the game off, put away my headphones, catch my breath, and tell myself that it's just a game while my heartbeat slowed down to regular speed. Good times. Day one buy.

I'm liking what I see but I hope the PS4 version doesn't hold the PC version back.

Getting a good system shock vs alien feel from it so far :)
Good that the PC thing got cleared up, but tbh I find myself getting more PS4 games and less Linux games the last few months (bloodborne, FF X remastered, Witcher 3), so not sure yet if its gone be a linux buy

The Penumbra games and Amnesia weren't exactly on the cutting edge of graphical technology, so I highly doubt consoles will be what's holding the game back. Much more likely it will be budget constraints.

insta buy ...seems a lot more interesting than Amnesia or Penumbra series.. dont get me wrong, i liked those as well, but sci-fi setting seems more interesting.

?

Was this meant to be funny?
The joke is that you'll **** your pants because it's going to be a really scary game.

OH MY GOD, HE CAN ACTUALLY TALK! WITH PEOPLE!

The first trailer did not actually impress me all that much, but it is nice to see that Frictional is at least doing some things new going by this one, and of course I am going to be buying it.
