Looks like Linux may get a newer Star Wars game with Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords.
The ESRB is a game ratings board, and we have been linked to this listing.
Take this with a pinch of salt though, as it hasn't been spoken about or confirmed by anyone. We can hope though!
Begin being excited. I sure am, it's one of my old favourites.
About the game
Five years after the events from the award winning Star Wars® Knights of the Old Republic™, the Sith Lords have hunted the Jedi to the edge of extinction and are on the verge of crushing the Old Republic. With the Jedi Order in ruin, the Republic’s only hope is a lone Jedi struggling to reconnect with the Force. As this Jedi, you will be faced with the galaxy’s most dire decision: Follow the light side or succumb to the dark…

But, is it the Steam, GOG, or both that are getting the Linux treatment?

Well, knowing that SWKOTOR was ported to iOS last year (highly likely using OpenGL), I guess this is just continuation of this. Despite being more than 10 years old, those games look very solid imho.

I got the first (and Iæd say clearly the best of the two) KOTOR running on my Android phone (I almost choked when I saw it in Play Store), ported by our very Aspyr, so I do not understand why we don't already have KOTOR for Linux! It can't be far off.

As much as I liked playing through the 2 KotOR games once each, I couldn't bring myself to play through either of them again. While I really enjoyed the stories (which is what kept me going), I thought the combat in those games was godawful.
I'm a lot less interested in old classics that most people have already played getting ported and a lot more in new games getting ported. Though, for those few people that have not played the KotOR games, this is great, I guess. (I can't imagine the first not getting ported if the second one is. Same engine and all that)

It seems to have been changed and/or removed.

I loved this game. It's made even better by one of the restoration packs that restored a load of uncut content. If it hadn't originally been cut then I think this would have been the best of the KOTOR games.

Great news! I remember really loving this game back in the days, and I always intended to replay it with the restored content one day but somehow I never got around to it.
As far as I recall, I did like KOTOR II a lot more than I did the first game but it's still a pity that they can't port both games in one go.

Please, Aspyr, do the job... KOTOR and KOTOR II in Linux would be perfect.

Aww. :(
And I actually thought it likely, because there was Mac port of KotOR (and the aforementioned iOS and Android ports), so an OpenGL renderer does exist.
Well, there's still xoreos, though. *hint hint* :P
