The best thing about this news is that it will be a free update. Wasteland 2: Game of the Year Edition promises to be full of goodies for us!

It will include an upgrade to Unity 5, and along with it some improvements to the environment, better player models and Physically Based Rendering for more impressive lighting.

My favourite thing about this is the extended voice overs. I'm not a fan of having to read walls of text, so this makes me very happy.

They are also extending the combat system. This will allow you to precision target attacks to areas of the body, and I can’t wait to see how that works out.

From these shots it does look quite a bit more impressive:

I'm really glad I've put off my extended play of it, and I will be sure to give it a really full play-through once the GOTY edition lands!

It doesn’t look like they have set a date for it yet, but that doesn’t stop me being seriously excited.

See their full post on it here.

unity5 and more voice overs - this is great news indeed

Awesome! Will play through again! I'm not sure ive played anything on Unity 5 yet. Hopefully there are A LOT of performance improvements for Linux.

On a slightly related note, rumors of a lengthy gameplay video of "Fallout 4" at E3 are hitting the interwebs today. *runs around in circles, screaming and waving hands in the air like a maniac!"

i am very exited for the precision target attacking. I also read somewhere else there is going to be a Perks and Quirks system. So much more like Fallout :D
Also not having to re-buy it will be great! (although I might!)

Thanks to all Kickstarter backers to make this game possible. A great game.

Wow! Simply wow!
I'm glad I didn't start the game yet. Looking at the screenshots I'm really exited though to give this game a try once the GOTY edition gets released. The screenshots look fantastic!

Nice. I already did 30 hours of the game, but I'll probably just start again when this comes out. Good chance to try out the different decisions too.

I did really enjoy this but ended up putting it down after my patience wore a bit thin. Tends to happen with me and CRPG games these days and was even worse with Pillars of Eternity (which I didn't enjoy as much as this). Guess the instant gratification and shiny graphics of modern games has made it harder to play a 60 hour + game with tonnes of dialogue these days. Wish it wasn't that way though :( I want to give it another chance, this game is awesome.

Great news, I guess it means they made a bit of money as well then!

And it was a crowdfunded project which couldn't have been made without actual support from backers ;)

inXile plan to launch a new campaign soon by the way: http://bardstale.inxile-entertainment.com
So support them when they start and don't say there is no point in doing it.

Unity 5 definitely plays way better with Linux. Hand of Fate saw massive improvement on my 290x after switched engines. Rock solid 60fps maxed out and with the open source drivers.

I wonder if Obsidian plan to bump Pillars of Eternity to Unity 5 as well.
