The best thing about this news is that it will be a free update. Wasteland 2: Game of the Year Edition promises to be full of goodies for us!
It will include an upgrade to Unity 5, and along with it some improvements to the environment, better player models and Physically Based Rendering for more impressive lighting.
My favourite thing about this is the extended voice overs. I'm not a fan of having to read walls of text, so this makes me very happy.
They are also extending the combat system. This will allow you to precision target attacks to areas of the body, and I can’t wait to see how that works out.
From these shots it does look quite a bit more impressive:
I'm really glad I've put off my extended play of it, and I will be sure to give it a really full play-through once the GOTY edition lands!
It doesn’t look like they have set a date for it yet, but that doesn’t stop me being seriously excited.
See their full post on it here.
How do you feel about a big free upgrade?

Some you may have missed, popular articles from the last month:
Quoting: ShmerlAnd it was a crowdfunded project which couldn't have been made without actual support from backers ;)
inXile plan to launch a new campaign soon by the way: http://bardstale.inxile-entertainment.com
So support them when they start and don't say there is no point in doing it.
It's fine to support devs that have a good track record on Linux. It's the ones that promise and don't deliver that we should be wary of ;)
And when they don't deliver we definitely should call them out on it. On the flip side, the ones that do deliver fully deserve our praise and support.

Agreed. Developing trust takes effort.

Quoting: edqeThanks to all Kickstarter backers to make this game possible. A great game.
+1!
I did never back anything and don't plan to do so, but I am benefiting from it, so thanks to all you backers!

This was my very first Kickstarter pledge, and not the last, and WHAT a game has come out of it, and the other Kickstarted projects (War for the Underworld, Planetary Annihilation, Pillars of Eternity!) I have supported.
Patience has paid off, big time.

Thanks for backing Pillars of Eternity!
I bought it yesterday. In a box. For Linux. In a real life store.
Still cannot believe it myself...!

Pillars of Eternity is great. With current depressed attitude towards crowdfunding that many voice it would be harder to create such games in the future however.

I got to Canyon of Titan and saw they were planning all kinds of updates so I decided to wait until all the changes got implemented...looks like I'll be waiting a little longer now. Will probably just start over since I was already on the fence about that too ;-)

I backed it, as well as Torment, and will back Bard's Tale...Brian Fargo had me when he released the Wasteland 2 Backer Video. He's a gamer who wants to make great games for the gamers. I'm sold.

You are welcome...have the "Limited Edition" Ammo Box sitting on my desk as I type. I couldn't be more happy than to see InExile stand behind their stuff. Although I will say I wish the Box was a little bigger. Oh and did I mention I have my Cloth Map hanging on my Cube wall as well? ;-) And yes there is room for the Torment one coming.

Quoting: ShmerlAnd it was a crowdfunded project which couldn't have been made without actual support from backers ;)As long time gamers do care about these games they will back them in Kickstarter and we will continue getting them - as you well said on the other thread recently. Unfortunately "caring" about them but not backing them in Kickstarter is not enough.
