Well I do love SteamDB, as it appears STAR WARS™ Knights of the Old Republic™ II - The Sith Lords™ has a Linux icon added, so it looks like the previous ESRB leak about a Linux version could be true after all.

Unless they change around things a lot, TSLRCM should still work. It doesn't modify the EXE, just the resources. Or rather, for the most part, it doesn't even modify the original resources, but adds new archives that override the old ones (since a "foo.mod" archive apparently overrides a "foo.rim" archive in priority) and new plain files to the override/ directory (which, yes, overrides stuff from the base archives).

Neverwinter Nights 2 is really quite unlikely to ever come to Linux, at least not without major porting efforts (*). While the first Neverwinter Nights game, and also the two KotOR games, were quite portable from the start, with an OpenGL renderer even, NWN2 is very Windows-y, and the renderer was pretty much rewritten from scratch with Direct3D in mind. There's also various middleware in use that might be problematic. Miles and Bink won't be a problem, but both Granny and SpreedTree might, especially since the versions it uses are nearly 10 years old now.

This raises two questions for me:
Will KOTOR 1 get the same love? They both use the Odyssey engine, so porting 2 should get you a long ways towards having 1 ported.
Will the Linux versions make their way to GOG - I own both there.

I actually haven't played KOTOR 2 much, as it glitched out on me when I tried it some 5 years ago. However, first one is absolute classic. It's something beyond RPG and SW license that made it bench play till the end. Crazy.

Interesting. The game is from 2004 and made with Odyssey engine. Does it mean the engine is being ported to Linux now?

You guys know that all the aurora/odyssey engine games are being ported to Linux via xoreos right? http://www.xoreos.org I've been speaking/hanging out with those guys on IRC and they are dead serious about getting them ported. They also worked on the GemRB engine port and at least one of their devs got hired by Beamdog.

Correction, none of the GemRB people work on xoreos. I do have friendly connections to them, though, mostly through the existing history/cross-polination between ScummVM and GemRB. But you probably shouldn't bug them about xoreos. :P
And yes, AFAIK, some GemRB people got hired by Beamdog. Which I think is a bit of a shame, because that means they can't work on GemRB anymore. But if they're okay with that, who am I to judge.

If its going to be ported it would be a shame that the company behind it did not contribute to xoreos. However I know that it runs really well in wine. Could be a wrapper port clap your hands.

That would be a bad idea, even if something they added was "clean room code", the fact they have the source code will make it look dodgy. It's like when the Windows source code a few years back got released, WINE developers stayed the hell away from it for the same reason.
KOTOR II native would just mean once less game for xoreos to worry about (but will no doubt support anyway because that's how open source rolls).
If anything, fingers crossed KOTOR 1 is coming. When this is out I'll buy a couple of copies and donate to this site.
