I haven't taken the plunge yet, but the gameplay looks fantastic and I dig that art style. The squad-based heist game from developer Shark Punch also features the writing of the talented Tom Jubert, who is known for his writing for The Swapper and The Talos Principle. On his blog, Tom Jubert recounts how he offered the developer his services after a chance meeting at PAX East earlier this year, and what he has done to improve the writing of the game:
The almost one month old blog post also goes on to mention a bit about the upcoming DLC for The Talos Principle, Road to Gehenna, and offers the writer's one to two month release estimate, which might mean that the DLC is releasing some time by the end of next month.
About the game (from Steam)
The Masterplan is a tactical squad-based heist game set in 1970s. The 2D top-down view gives you a great overview of what's happening at any given moment, allowing you to be a real criminal mastermind. Features hand-drawn 2D graphics and fun group control, granting you total control - at least until someone calls the cops and everything goes haywire.
During the game you'll need to heist your way through 20 unique hand-crafted heists in a persisting career mode, manage your crew from heist to heist by hiring the right goons and by making sure they are properly equipped. A test of a true mastermind will be to execute the plan to perfection, keep the goons alive, and walk away with the maximum loot from each heist.
Depending on your preference, you can hit your targets loud, or in stealth, or a mix of both. Keep the civilians under control, knock them out, or leave no witnesses. It's all up to you, just make sure you won't be there when the cops arrive - or be ready for a brutal firefight.
Key Features
Get The Masterplan from Steam or DRM-free from Humble Store and GOG. Buying from Humble Store will also give you a key to unlock the game on Steam.

QuoteSince coming onboard I've tried to make the world feel more consistent. A simulation game like this, where most of what happens is player-driven, turns not on the cinematics or the linear text, but the authenticity of the world you are interacting with. It doesn't need to be real, it just needs to make internal sense.

The game looks really sweet and would've loved to pick it up at day one. Unfortunately, it seems to have some technical issues and crash a lot. Therefore I'll wait till the bugs get sorted out first before I'll grab the game.
