Skullgirls, the 2D fighting game with quite a saga built upon its Linux port, has released a video of the port in action.
Back in May of this year, the developers noted the port is now being done officially (rather than a volunteer effort).
I, for one, am very excited to finally play this game especially now after the recent free week it had on Steam, which got some of my friends to start playing the game already.
And of course, you can check the video below:

Since I've found that out however, this has been sitting on my "wish" list and I have been impatiently waiting for its release...
There's not many games will I insist on paying full-price for, given Steam offers so many discounts, but this is one such game I will (pay full price for).
There are still some issues with the audio that need to be fixed for the port. We're aware of them, and they won't sound off the way they do in the vid here. It's just intended as a work-in-progress video so the people who've been patiently waiting for the port can have some sort of update and keep up hope!
Hopefully, when Skullgirls is finally released for Linux-based operating systems, it's not one of those "give and forget" cases... With a little luck, the developers will continue to maintain Skullgirls for Linux-based operating systems alongside the same game for other operating systems.
Though in saying that, it is reassuring to see that the developers have learnt from their mistakes and are seemingly trying their hardest to appease the Linux Community...
Thanks for the explainations. As I never played Skullgirls, I was a bit afraid that it was an issue with the original game (and so maybe a kind of cheap/lame fighting game).
Looking forward to it. :)
I just hope that my arcade stick also works on Linux. Otherwise I have to buy a new one. Does anyone have experience with arcade sticks on Linux?
That part of the code I know personally, as I wrote the SDL input hooks for the Skullgirls engine. It supports SDL_Joystick and SDL_GameController (as well as keyboard input recently), and through SDL_Joystick, my Madcatz PS3 Namco Tournament Edition fightstickS work (yes, plural :D). SDL_GameController takes care of the X360 wired pads.
