Good news AMD users, BioShock Infinite has been patched to hopefully fix some lock-ups you have been getting.

The release announcement on Virtual Programming's github was short and to the point:
Quote8 July 2015 09:28 BST - New version available, Steam BuildID 655022

This build should address the lockups that were mostly being seen on AMD processors.

I've actually had lock-ups on Intel, so maybe this will ease them for me as well.

Bioshock: Infinite for me has run without problems, apart from the fact that saves don't sync using Steam Cloud! More than annoying.

Great! I bought it when the Linux version was first released, but only played a little over 3 hours of it because of the unpredictable freezes. The bit that I played was very promising, though. Really hope it'll work flawlessly now.

i fixed the freezes with taskset -c 0,2,4 %command% into steam options..

but great to see official fix

That's good news. I was doing the same thing as @Xpander for all the VP ports, but it's nice to see they're fixing these things. Hopefully they'll apply it to Spec Ops as well because it had the same issue.

Loads fine for me on my 970. Any terminal output?

I have this error :

ERROR: ld.so: object '/usr/lib/libjpeg.so.62' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded (wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64): ignored.
./bioshock.i386: error while loading shared libraries: libSDL2-2.0.so.0: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64

Still have the files in the directories. Strange i didn't have the error before.

I was having lots of freezing issues even with those taskset workarounds. Hopefully this will make the experience better.

Funny, I don't really remember having any freezes until yesterday, which started to happen every time I tried to play. Then the patch was released today :P

I played for a long half an hour yesterday and indeed I didn't experience any freezes like I used to have like every 20 min or so. FPS is quite stable for me. Catalyst 15.7.

What GPU you use? Maybe some with HD 5000 or HD 6000 series? As I know, this gen cards have bug in Catalyst drivers (we see only missing textures in Bioshock). SO maybe AMD in new driver fixed this?

After a short test I can say that the AMD CPU lock-ups seemed to be solved with the patch. It was crashing every minute before, so I could hardly get out of the main menu. There are still missing textures with the Catalyst 15.2 driver on a HD 5770 - I haven't tried any newer driver yet.

It's a Radeon HD 7870 GHz edition on Kubuntu 14.04.02 64 bit. Hmm I've tried the game with previous drivers (namely 15.3, and Omega - 14.12. Probably others too) and the game renders properly. I don't miss any textures (I have almost everything set to the best quality). I'll try to give it a run and see if I can post some pics on steam so you can judge by yourself. The performance with those previous drivers was quite good and so is it with 15.7. It's just the random freezes that didn't enable me to play for a long time.

Could you post a picture to steam so we can see what the problem with the textures is?
As I pointed in my previous post, I'd say my rendering is OK...

This is confirmed bugs by devs, look here: https://github.com/virtual-programming/bioshockinfinite-linux/issues/10

In this site is also two picture with this issues.

This bug is in Catalyst drivers but only on Terascale processors like HD 5000 and HD 6000 series, so this bug does not apply to your card.

Thanks for the insight. That render in the bug report really is wrong. My gpu is GCN and it does indeed render correctly.

Now they need to fix their multimonitor issues......

The game doesn’t feel as fluid as before here, even though it’s running at more than 60 FPS. But I can’t say for sure it’s because of the patch. Of course if Steam was letting us revert updates I could try…
It does seem to have some stutter at random times.
Previously stutter was occasionally seen at level loading time, but now hm...

Fortunately I kept an old build on my drive.

I have an 8 core AMD CPU and the game still runs like crap! I was looking forward to playing this game but the random freezes and stuttering makes it unplayable. I am furious!
