Don't Be Patchman is releasing very soon on Steam, and it's going to start by being a Linux-exclusive title. This won't stay forever though, but the developers are focusing on Linux first.

About the game (Official)
The Sheeple are in trouble - they've been enslaved by the Drones - and it's all Patchman's fault! Now it's up to you to redeem Patchman, rescue the Sheeple, and uncover the awful secret behind the Drone army. Stay out of sight, wear clever disguises, search the forest for seeds, grow fruits and plants, tear down propaganda, awaken the Sheeple to break the control scheme, and power down those nasty robots!

The game itself looks quite funny, so I look forward to testing it out. I am glad they aren't going to be exclusive forever, as no matter what platform I support, I don't like the idea of something always being exclusive to one platform.

You can find Don't Be Patchman on Steam, releasing today.

Not going to buy it if they release only linux version.
All "only on X" and "exclusively" titles are pure cancer.
Buying customers are only ones who looses.
Ppl who buy those cancers are ones who makes clear message that it's okay, but they are pissing on their own cereals by saying that. Usually those ones are too stupid to understand and buys all consoles+PC or just go to internet and "tell" ppl about those "PC master race" e.g. things.

What you guys would think if, lets say Warnerbros, film a movie and you can watch it only on e.g. Sony dvd/bluray player?
Would you go and buy Sony dvd/blueray player?

Nice! been waiting for a game to be on Linux first! :D
In 8th Jun 2014 I purchased Montague's mount on Gamersgate, and it came with an steam key and a downloadable DRMFREE version.

Well, the DRMFREE version Montague's Mount is Linux exclusive. :)
(at least on Gamersgate, I don't know the Humble version)

Not going to buy it if they release only linux version.

It's not Linux only - just releasing on Linux first during the first month of their Early Access period.

Will definitely be buying this. It's nice to see Linux being treated as a first-class citizen. <3

I don't get it (it's an strange game). But hope it's a killer game and people get rid of windows to install this. Need more of this.
(I know it will never happen, but every day linux gamming is looking better). :D

Buying this for sure, even if I never get round to playing it.

That is a terrible analogy and couldn't be further from what is happening. Linux is a completely free platform for anyone to use. It isn't a brand or merchandise peddled by some unethical salesman. Nothing is preventing anyone from playing this; anyone can install Linux via dualboot or virtual machine and play this game. No one has to buy anything, no one loses anything by installing Linux.

Read the article next time before posting. The first sentence of the article says the exclusivity is temporary. The game isn't an exclusive at all, only the first build is. On the steam store page they say the game will be on OSX/Windows within a month.

The Steam-Page shows Windows Systemrequirements ._.

... and it states it's a bug: "There seems to be a glitch with the store page, it says Minimum Windows System Requirements when it should not."
I thought Valve wouldn't even alow that.

Might have something to do with the requirement to publish games for Windows. From the Steam Greenlight FAQ:

What systems must my game run on?

To remain in Steam Greenlight and qualify for distribution via Steam, your game must at least run on a Windows PC. You can also be developing for any other platform you like, but we are only able to support PC, Mac and Linux releases at this time.

We covered this game in The Funding Crowd #42, and if I remember correctly, I first heard about the campaign from someone in the GOL IRC channel who were helping the developers promote the game, so I'm not surprised to see them focus on the Linux version. It still is pretty neat that they're launching for Linux first though. Let's just hope they don't squander their launch flair while most potential customers won't be able to buy it. It's hard as it is to get a spotlight on Steam, and it's made even harder by the concept of multiple releases for so many games.

Its cool that is a Linux first launch. SteamOS will bring exclusives and everyone will just have to deal with it, because consoles have exclusives ( semi-secretly outside of the normal uninitiated SteamOS user base we will also know it runs on a Linux desktop ^_^ )

That music is so catchy, if there are a few tracks like that it might be worth the entry fee alone.

This is the really sad news that they are planning to make versions for other operating systems. In this case, we won't have the competition for Voltley which was released in 2009 by Entourev LLC:

They have never ported this game to other operating systems.

I remember that OBLONE Software ported Sun Blast to PC-BSD.

If I knew that the general public would get the opportunity to buy this game before people who Kickstarted it at tiers that didn't include alpha access, I wouldn't have bothered. I'd just have waited and bought it today instead. Oh well, guess I'm waiting until next year to play.

The game looks interesting, the timing of release is quite unfortunate though (because of shadow of modor).
