Hatred is that game people went a bit mental over, and it looks like we may be able to go on a killing spree soon too.

SteamDB has shown signs of it coming to Linux, so your wait to begin doing video game violence may be over soon:
QuoteChanged Depots
341941/config/oslist: windows
341942/config/oslist: linux
341942/name: Hatred linux

About the game (Official)
Hatred fills your whole body. You’re sick and tired of humanity’s worthless existence. The only thing that matters is your gun and the pure Armageddon that you want to unleash.

You will go out for a hunt, and you will clear the New York outskirts of all humans with cold blood. You will shoot, you will hurt, you will kill, and you will die. There are no rules, there is no compassion, no mercy, no point in going back. You are the lord of life and death now - and you have full control over the lives of worthless human scum.

You will also run, you will need to think, you will need to hide and fight back when armed forces come to take you down. You will have no mercy for them, because they dare to stand in your way.

Only brutality and destruction can cleanse this land. Only a killing spree will make you die spectacularly and go to hell.

You can find Hatred on Steam, but the usual applies: Don't buy it until the Linux port is playable.

It's a game that should exist, whether or not the premise makes me uncomfortable. I'm not going to buy it, but that's because the subject matter and gameplay don't appeal to me.

Stil, every game that gets a Linux port is a good thing, no matter what.

He is a dev than having the choice to just ignore a release for this OS, instead he decided to press the Linux export button. So Im happy than its coming to Linux, its afterall another UE4 game on this platform. And for me the game looks very cool.
And btw, a game like gta:sa is as violent as his one, I felt tempted to run over people in real life after playing it years ago lol

Anybody knows how well SteamDB port guessing actually works?
Like, how many of the games appearing to get Linux support actually got it, say a year later?

As long as it doesn't cost too much I might end up buying it. There is nothing wrong with violent video games. What is wrong is real violence.

Why did they bother porting that garbage?

Are you saying that based on its gameplay quality or because you disagree with it?
44 on Metacritic. Garbage.

Metacritic is shit, and it doesn't reflect anything properly. I bet people are downvoting it cause of the brutality. I heard that game merchanics are okay, but game can be pretty challenging and in game physics are pretty damn impressive.

There are games out there that are a lot more brutal.

44 is the journalists' score, not people downvoting.

Well, journalists are people too. Their opinions could be just as biased as anyone else's.

--------

I will watch some reviews and gameplay videos, and if I like the game mechanics, I will buy it. I totally disagree with violence IRL but guys, this is a video game. In GTA, I ALWAYS drive my car on the sidewalks, and burn cops. It's very... relaxing. I played GTA ever since the first one, back when I was a kid. It did NOT make me a bad person (maybe quite the opposite).... As I said, I stongly disagree with any kind of violence, especially agains innocents.

There are many violent games out there, and noone bats an eye on them. In Fallout, for example, you can be an evil raider or a kind hero (which I usually tend to be). Also, the almighty and ever-praised Skyrim is just the same.... DARK BROTHERHOOD, anyone?

No, seriously, guys. Beyond moral quarrels about the game, as a game it sucks. I've yet to see a positive review, even from people who supported it being released on steam. The only thing the game has going on for itself is ultra violence. But cheap shock value can keep your interest for so long. This is not GTAV.

Gaming journalists aren't automatically more credible than other people, at least not in my eyes. A lot of the "journalists" in the mainstream gaming news industry are corrupt and have horrible morals.

Most of the mainstream game review sites have horrible reviews, which are often coloured by politics. I don't want to read about their stupid opinion about how games are sexist. I just want to hear about the games.

I trust totalbiscuit's word on this. He said that the physics in the game are pretty amazing and game can be pretty tough. While there is some bad design towards the objectives and such, it doesn't seem like bad game. Mediocre to slightly good.

And I think it's pretty unfair to compare a 3xA title game with one from a smaller company. I think this is their first game as well.

I mostly play RPG and the like and some RTS but sometimes I just want to play a mindless game that keeps me entertained for short periods of time.

Why did they bother porting that garbage?

Why am I not surprise to see a bunch of SJW condemning a game simply because they don't like the content it has?

....the gameplay is garbage though in my opinion.
Why you assume that that this person don't like it for sjw reasons(and I think that sjw reasons are valid)?
This game is just bad, on top of being a mindless shooter for special snowflakes?

So for once we're going to get a buggy port with poor controller support that's actually faithful to the original in that regard. That's a fresh idea, at least.

Still think they should have had Tommy Wiseau do the voice though.
Zeroedout 21 Jul 2015
It boggles my mind that sometimes all that stops a port is a dev that hasn't used Linux and is having a tough time installing &_&

https://steamcommunity.com/app/341940/discussions/0/610573009237027292/ has some interesting comments from the dev.

Yes, I have a video for everything.

If you want to argue about video game journalists, sjw stuff etc etc this is not the site you're looking for. We like it clean here.
lucifertdark 22 Jul 2015
I'll buy it once it's released, unless you're paying for it then you can have an opinion on MY purchase.
Nezchan 22 Jul 2015
The AI in this game is worse than shit.

Watching a gameplay video, I was amused at civilians who would run away from you for a short distance, then stop and wait for you to catch up. Not that any of the AIs were any smarter, so I guess they were normal in that sense. The only way to cope with a world of bugs, glitches, an increasingly annoying voiceover (seriously, dude is like an emo teenager from 1997) and takedowns that get boring after the third one is to totally shut your brain off I guess.
