Feral Interactive Are Teasing Us, Again

By -
Feral Interactive are teasing us with a picture somehow related to an unannounced Linux and Mac port.

A promise is a promise! Here’s a cryptic teaser for an unannounced Mac/Linux game. It’s tricky. Real tricky. Enjoy! pic.twitter.com/ISo6WW3zWW

— Feral Interactive (@feralgames) July 22, 2015

They did add a new game to their feral radar recently, and we believe that it's Alien: Isolation.

It's not clear if this new teaser is about that same unannounced radar signal, or another new unannounced port.

Personally, I think it's great that they tease us, but they still have to deliver on Shadow of Mordor yet. We are a patient bunch though, and whatever it is, it will be awesome I'm sure. If Feral could release Mordor before the end of July, that would be a swell birthday present for me, hint hint.

What say you gamers? What do you think this new teaser is for? A google reverse image search claims it's to do with "Islamic Golden Age". Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Indeed.

If you rotate the manuscript you can see some kind of a shadow and eyes...

Good spot!

To me, it looks like a Chao, kinda-mascot of the Sonic Adventure series. Hopefully this means that they're porting SA1 (i.e. the last truly great Sonic game) over to Linux and Mac! :D

From 3 months ago :
So... does the follow mean that Feral Interactive have announced Deus Ex: Mankind Divided for Linux?
Nope! We promise, if we have any Linux plans for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided we'll tell you with words, not with THE REQUESTINATOR.
Well, after all, there are words on this page, so my guess is Deus Ex :-P

(I have other random guesses somehow related to the hint, but I can't write them down from my mobile phone).

"Somehow" is definitely the key word here. You're all so good at figuring these things out that we decided to make this one ridiculously tricky...

Which can only be a confirmation that we were right about the last clue being for Alien: Isolation

My weird Theory

If you rotate the manuscript you can see some kind of a shadow and eyes...
you get this

That's clearly the Illuminati symbol, and it's all in gold and black: Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

Edit: just noticed it said 'unannounced Mac / Linux game' so it can't be HR, since that's already on Mac. :(
Maybe Mankind Divided, then :D

To be honest I'd really prefer they release something or at least give us a status about Shadow of Mordor. (technical issue ? ...) Hey Feral, don't tease, release !

Now for the next game I don't know. I don't think it would be an Ubisoft game but why not... In that case I'd also think some Assassin's Creed, hoping it is not the first one (which was more a technical demo than anything else...)
BabaoWhisky Jul 22, 2015
We will never have Assassin's Creed games on Linux... Maybe the first game because it does not use Uplay but the next games, it's a dream sorry...

And what about UPlay for linux? They were doing some stuff with linux: https://youtu.be/Gtmwnx-k2qg

And also we have this: http://news.softpedia.com/news/Ubisoft-s-Watch-Dogs-Might-Get-a-Linux-Version-438639.shtml

So... Why a linux binary of Uplay would be so rare?
Mountain Man Jul 22, 2015
I would never install Uplay on my Linux box. Installing it in Windows was bad enough.

Waaaait a second: Could this be related to the recent finding in Birmingham? 'Oldest' Koran fragments found in Birmingham University?

http://www.bbc.com/news/business-33436021

Ergo this has more to do with Birmingham, or libraries, than the Koran or islam?

OK, so it's not a simple guess. Let's do a complicated one: A Thousand and One Nights --> Aladdin --> genie --> magic lamp --> Magic Lamp quest --> Witcher 3! *drops the mic and walks away*

I like this (I want to play Witcher 3!). I don't know the Magic Lamp quest, but since you mention the genie/djinn, that reminds me of 'The Last Wish', the first Witcher book and short story of the same name, where Geralt meets Yennefer. So either Witcher 3 because Yennefer, or Witcher 1, because 1st book.

The original image from Feral was a scan of "A Thousand and One Nights," which predates the advent of Islam, so it's not directly related to the Qur'an or Islam. If it is related to anything Arabic or Persian though, any game about the Middle East (including Assassin's Creed) or Central/South Asia is a possibility. Many say the original story came from India or Persia rather than Arabia. But that's probably too easy of a guess. I'm sticking with the Witcher 3 because I want it more. :)

@melkemind: May I remind you of Ferals own comment here:

So if anything, I'd say the safest guess of ALL is that this hint has nothing whatsoever to do with "A Thousand and One Nights" or theories directly related to that. We have to look wider!

... But where? Now that's anyones guess :)

Bat**** insane theory #1:

A promise is a promise! Here’s a cryptic teaser for an unannounced Mac/Linux game. It’s tricky. Real tricky. Enjoy!

Tricky is the name of a classic Run DMC song, more importantly, it had a music video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-O5IHVhWj0

At the beginning of the video there are a couple of guys scamming a woman with 3 Card Monte. You may recognize these two individuals as the famed magic/comedy duo Penn & Teller (long before the peak of their fame). Teller's act is that of a mime, he never speaks, which is reminiscent of Harpo Marx of the Marx Brothers who also was a mime as part of his comedy act. Marxism had a great influence on the molding and rise to power of Adolf Hitler and the Nazis. The game is Wolfenstein: The New Order or The Old Blood. :P

That was easy. There is a book called "1001: Video Games You Must Play Before You Die", on the back cover there is Lara Croft. It's a Tomb Raider!!!

The reboot? Ugh. I mean it would be a great get for Linux as it's a big name game and very popular, but I hated that game with a passion.

Personally I loved the reboot. For Lara was written and looked like an actual woman this time. Well, the story was good in general. Also, the game was very accessible for someone like me, who otherwise isn't a fan of (or even good at) platformers, so that was a plus.

Hmm, don't think it has anything to do with Tomb Raider.

The upcoming Rise of the Tomb Raider is XBox exclusive (at least for quite some time) and the current one is already available for Mac and, thus, does not fit the hint related to an unannounced Linux and Mac port.
Keizgon Jul 22, 2015
Well, they did say it's an unannounced title. Considering the SteamOS game announcements, it can't be Total War: Atilla, Company of Heroes 2, Evolve (well, it was pseudo-announced by being hidden), or Witcher 3.

My guess is on Alien: Isolation as well since it popped up on SteamDB not too long ago. Though I'm sure it will be good regardless of what it is.

Though, as usual, I hope to see some Japanese developed games someday. AFAIK, we have 0 AAA quality ones. Would be nice to see Final Fantasy 7 Remake or Street Fighter IV / V. Also, with the Tales of Symphonia remaster (well, sort of remaster) coming to Windows, I would love to revisit that classic JRPG to see what they improved on.
