Tomorrow isn't just my birthday, it's also the day Feral Interactive seem to have something "special" planned for Linux & Mac gamers.

Hi Mac gamers. Hi Linux gamers. Do you think something special might happen tomorrow?

— Feral Interactive (@feralgames) July 29, 2015

Feral Interactive have a lot of ports lined up, and with Mordor being a little behind schedule it could very well be that! What an amazing birthday present that would be!

I have no idea though, as no one from Feral has given us access to anything, so we will have to wait and see.

What do you think it is? The hype train is real.

Update: Checking their Feral Radar, it seems Mordor has been pushed back into the "Soon" column rather than "Very Soon", so we doubt it is Mordor.

The "Depth Charge" clue is now in the Very Soon column, so it looks like it may be whatever that clue is. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

By the ever watchful eye of Sauron I hope it is Mordor.

Dear 8 pound 6 ounce newborn infant Jesus, please let it be Shadow of Mordor. Please let it be Shadow of Mordor. Please let it be Shadow of Mordor. Please let it be Shadow of Mordor. Please let it be Shadow of Mordor.

I'd say it's Alien Isolation. The depots for Mac and Linux were filled in more than a week ago; and they've even been updated a couple of times since.

Most epic one-liner ever!

To be seriously, I don't believe its SoM, cause its not in the nearest schedule according to the feral radar.
walther von stolzing Jul 29, 2015
Well, Alien Isolation is no longer on the radar -- I bet tomorrow it'll go inside 'out now'.

'Terror in a best laid plan' still under 'Very Soon', sorry about that.

Oh come on they said spring and were heading autumn. (Shadow of Mordor)
and why do they still port some games only to mac?

That's a great question. I suspect at least part of it has to do with agreements with the original developers who may not want a Linux port for whatever reason.

I don't think so. Why would they hand out their sources in the first place?

Surely it's not grid auto sport, since the news is about both mac and tux. Sadly.

Did you hear about Dying Light: The Following expansion
From VG247:
Those looking for a “a feature-heavy, story-based expansion pack” for Dying Light will be pleased to know one is in the works.

Titled The Following, the content will contain drivable all-terrain dirt buggies and the new map is the same size as all the previous maps from Dying Light combined.

Dying Light: The Following will be available for purchase separately but will also be made free to all Season Pass holders.

I'm not really following what you mean by sources. Do you mean source code and source artwork?

If that assumption is correct then it's irrelevant to any agreement X company would have with Feral whether they have the sources or not. If X company says, "We would like a Mac port." and Feral asks, "Would you like a Linux port as well?" and X company says, "No, just a Mac port." Then Feral isn't going to proceed to make a Linux port as it would be a breach of contract. They may go ahead and add in the compiler flags for it just in case company X changes their mind later, but probably not anything beyond that.

A couple more reasons they may not be doing Linux ports are:

- They don't think they can sell enough to make a profit with some games. (More likely)
- It may not be in their budget to higher the staff to do the ports yet. (Less likely)

Regardless, I'm sure they must have a good reason why not all games have Linux ports and some of them may be a mix of several reasons.

I'm just excited that they are doing Linux ports and am curious to see what they'll be releasing tomorrow! :)

I hope it will be shadow of mordor finally and no more some little or old games.
gojul Jul 29, 2015
I hope it is a release, not a teaser...
GBee Jul 29, 2015
Of course it doesn't have to be a game, or a teaser, it could be that they are releasing their own downloader/installer like GOG.

As a programmer, I thought of source code, but of course they would hand all sources of whatever kind.

If X company says, "We would like a Mac port."

Ok, now I understand what you meant. I was thinking of Shadow of Mordor, which has been officially announced for Linux. But it seems you were talking more generally about ports.

Ah, crap, really? How did this game go from a Spring release window to "Who the hell knows"? They must have encountered a significant roadblock. I just wish they'd give us some update.
