Postal 2's Linux version has been lagging behind the Windows build for a long time, but no more. RunningWithScissors took the port in-house, and it's now updated. Originally the port was maintained by Ryan "Icculus" Gordon, but he was too busy.

They even made a new trailer:

The expansion Paradise Lost isn't yet available for Linux, but it will come soon hopefully.

The new update brings Linux goodies like Steam Workshop and Steam Achievements!

You can find the full changelog here, that's the entire changelog mind you. We haven't had an update since 2013, so for Linux there's a lot of changes of course which finally brings it in line with Windows.

About the game (Official)
Live a week in the life of "The Postal Dude"; a hapless everyman just trying to check off some chores. Buying milk, returning an overdue library book, getting Gary Coleman's autograph, what could possibly go wrong?

Blast, chop and piss your way through a freakshow of American caricatures in this darkly humorous first-person adventure. Meet Krotchy: the toy mascot gone bad, visit your Uncle Dave at his besieged religious cult compound and battle sewer-dwelling Taliban when you least expect them! Endure the sphincter-clenching challenge of cannibal rednecks, corrupt cops and berserker elephants. Accompanied by Champ, the Dude's semi-loyal pitbull, battle your way through open environments populated with amazingly unpredictable AI. Utilize an arsenal of weapons ranging from a humble shovel to a uniquely hilarious rocket launcher.

Collect a pack of attack dogs! Use cats as silencers! Piss and pour gasoline on anything and everyone! YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO!

Check out Postal 2 on Steam. It's having a massive sale to celebrate the update for us. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Been skeptical about this game, but if Paradise Lost is released for Linux, I may reconsider.

Great game, glad to see they've been maintaining Linux support all these years and finally fixed the recent problems.

I also have it on very good authority that the Linux version will be coming to GOG.com shortly.

I bought the Fudge pack many moons ago. I need to find out if I can get a steam key from them. I also unfortunately bought a physical copy of Postal 3 and it was horrible. Running with scissors apolgized for it, it was that bad.
Postal 1 & 2 are classics though.

Hopefully it eventually comes to GOG.

Finally, I've been waiting for that for months. Linux version made no ingame problems but not having achievements sucked a bit.

So what I had on good authority is now a little more public:
Quoting: Toploader (RWS)GoG Windows is in line with Steam. PL will be out on GoG soon we hope (we submitted it to them a few days back). Linux will also come to GoG soon. We're also working on Galaxy support for all games.

What my source is telling me now though is that at least one person at RWS is seriously considering using Linux for his daily workflow if the UE4 Linux tools now in beta work well. ;)
