Don't let "free to play" turn you off, as with over 130 thousand reviews, its overall rating is "Very Positive" on Steam.

I haven't had the time to try it personally, but it's now in my download queue!

About (Official)
Unturned is a sandbox game in the emerging multiplayer apocalypse survival genre. Rather than focusing on being an MMO it provides players with easy systems to sit down and survive the zombie infestation with their friends. Over the course of a typical adventure, groups will have a blast fortifying locations, scavenging for supplies, trying to live off the land and negotiating with other people. The game is being developed entirely with the community in focus.

You can find Unturned on Steam.

If you have tried it, let us know your thoughts!

I must try this :)

I'm less turned off by the phrase "free to play" as I am by "zombie infestation". Although both give me the reaction "Oh god, not another one."

Might give this a go though, for funsies.

Last time I tried this in Wine, it worked pretty well. It also didn't have any micro transactions. The paid for version was for some starting equipment and more character customisation options.

Finally they released it! Awesome! And only in the past week did I start playing it through Wine! Serves me right for being impatient!

Very cool, it was available already as a preview build, but I encountered some problems while playing it :)

Just tried it out. It's pretty cool. I noticed some graphical issues though. The water quality option is broken and the mouse doesn't get caught. Performance is at 30 FPS on my rig (GeForce GTX 550)

It didn't. "Early Access" and "Survival Game" did, though. Heaven knows early access survival games are in such short supply.

Awesome news! I've been following this game for the better part of the year, envious of my Windows friends that were able to play it. An adorable zombie apocalypse? Huzzah! The developer (and I think it's just one guy, a kid I believe) regularly updates and patches the game. Ooo. It just finished downloading! Gotta go! :)

It was out for Linux in the beta branch for a months or so already! Anyway, now 3.0 is stable which is cool.

- It's neither F2P really (there is *one* DLC which only gives you an additional mode and cosmetic stuff and it only costs 5)
[afterthought: Actually it is free 2 play - taken literally]
- The early access shouldn't put one off too much. It's just one dev but he is really looking into giving frequent updates.
- Neither it is totally survival. For me it's also much crafting/building etc. Quite a nice game.

I had no performance problems on my GTX970 on highest settings bu, obviously, on my old lapop with and intel Centrino and a nVidia G105M I had - but I did not expect anything else^^

The stuff is built using Unity5 - not the fastest but definitely good.
