Thanks to Jake for sending this in:
Monochrome, Inc During the development of Contagion we were working on a version of the Source Engine that was being promoted by Valve to have Linux & Mac support. After we gutted and rebuilt the Engine where possible they accepted defeat and instead overhauled the Engine for Linux & Mac support which took them quite some time with numerous specialists specifically for this task. We brought on specialists and spent a great deal of money only to do the same when it was clear we could not add Linux & Mac support no matter how much money we tossed at it.
That said there is a light at the end of the tunnel and by that I mean we plan to finish up the DLC & Feature releases that are vital for a stable playerbase and will be visiting Valve this year to discuss moving over to an updated Engine (which we won't be an issue but want to know what options are available beyond the few we know of as they may present some options that are of greater benefit to all) and so Linux and Mac users will have a version of Contagion that is bug free, stable, should have a solid playbase, and of course all content is free. We are looking into ways to toss in a bit more as a thank to Linux and Mac users who have been patient with us as well.
Sincerely,

It is another Zombie game yes, but it does look pretty good. It also has "Mostly Positive" reviews according to Steam, so that's hopeful.

Very true, Dying Light is awesome! The first triple-A title I finished from beginning to end in online co-op on Ubuntu. Never thought I'd live to experience that :)

Is it Valve or the studios with a lack of good skills? It very often takes a bit different level of skill to implement game engine code than the actual game's play code itself. (This is from professional experience, having helped three studios do this...) And this is NOT knocking the studios saying this. As often as not there's some assumptions that you need the skills that come from understanding the guts of both OS's API at least from the behaviors offered from the developer API (OpenGL and DirectX are similar...and radically different at the same time.). It could be you end up having to re-work the engine moderately and it's NOT a simple task in most cases.

Heh... Guess you never played Tribes2. >:-D
Hearing all the good things from people about Dying Light makes me intrigued enough to play a Zombie game (Not my thing...more my Baby Brother's and Nephew's thing...).
