We have been waiting too long for this to come, but Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition has been shown off on twitter for Linux.

Hope this will put some of our Linux players fears to rest. It exists and it's not that far in the future anymore! pic.twitter.com/2LRN3Lk7s4

I'm still not very amused by how long it has taken them, but if they deliver it on the same day the upgraded Windows & Mac versions are due like they claim they will, then maybe we can put it behind us.

They will be Kickstarting Divinity: Original Sin 2 this month, and I hope people have learnt a lesson here. If you Kickstart anything, prepare to wait, and prepare for Linux delays. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I'm not sure if I'm prepared for yet another >50 hours RPG...! X)

I know this attitude is not right but I hope this studio will fail. They lied to people who paid for this game on Kickstarter and they never stopped to lie. This game was meant to be released "just after Mac version". Mac version had day one release, Divinity Original Sin is not on Linux over 15 months after release on Mac.

I really admire honesty and clear rules. They do not provide it. Sorry for such a comment here, but this is how I feel regarding this studio.

I'm not saying that I will never buy this game, but I do not feel like buying this game will support Linux gaming so I will get it on some cheap sale.

Just treat Kickstarter and early access as scams, and things will make more sense.

Stop being an idiot. They didn't lie about anything. They underestimated how much work the Linux version was going to be. Everybody who donated for the Linux version can still ask for a refund.

This is a cyrillic interface in there, who is working on that port ?

@BillNyeTheBlackGuy One step too far - I didn't offend you, so you shouldn't do it either. I have my opinion - I just said it. If you don't like - comment my opinion. But never offend someone.

Anyway I will reply to your comment where you're saying something that makes sence:

Do you really think that this is ok to get this kind of credit where someone pays you money, you keep it for over a year and then you give him back money (without an extra money because of the interest) because you didn't provide a product or service? I think this is just sad that they did this kind of trick. And I don't think it was "underestimation". It was super low priority and lying just to our faces and laughing during this lies.

OMG a kickstarted game did not deliver on all its promises. SHOCKING... not...
Sabun Aug 13, 2015
It looks like we do have to push them quite a bit for more information, but they are willing to respond. I asked for this confirmation of proof several hours ago here and Swen honored it with that Twitter post.

Yes, we've waited absurdly long, but it looks like they really are trying to fulfill that promise now. While I am wary of the 2nd kickstarter still, at the very least Larian took one step forward today in proving to us their efforts.

I pledge in the kickstarter. I am not upset as long as they deliver it eventually and it works decently. I can wait. However, I can't justify supporting another kickstarter with them unless I can play DOS or DOS2 has day one or few months promised Linux client.

15 months for a screenshot, i can imagine how much time left for the release :D Well it's a progress, but we aren't there yet.
edqe Aug 13, 2015
I hope the D: OS 2 is not done consoles in mind like 99% AAA games these days. If it doesn't and it will be released for Linux I will support the project immediately since it is easily one of the best CRPG games released for a long time.

It is better get used to wait in Linux gaming world. We have lots of promises pending including SteamOS and Steam Machines themselves.

I'll wait until I see some reviews of how it actually runs on Linux. It seems Linux has such a low priority for them, I won't take their word for it. I'm also a bit concerned about the 'consolification' for lack of a better term of the Enhanced Edition, I haven't really seen anything on how much of that made its way into the PC version - though I may well just have missed that if they explained it.
Anyway, the Kickstarter for the second game will be over by the time the first one comes to Linux, so I won't be backing it. Them not delivering on previous promises really doesn't inspire any trust to invest in more promises.
Luckily, Shadowrun: Hong Kong will be out next week, so it's not like there's nothing to play. :)

Considering that they've made and broken similar promises in the past, you'll understand if I don't suddenly believe them now, and I'm not going to believe any of their claims about the Linux version until I see the "buy" button in the Steam for Linux client.

But to be honest, at this point, I probably won't be buying their game even though I was interested in it at one time simply because it would feel like rewarding bad behavior.
frostwork Aug 13, 2015
can't wait to finally play it. I'm one of many linux backers and of course I was not amused of the linux delay
and the initial missing verbose mode of the support. but later Raze did an excellent support job answering many linux questions imho. larian supporting linux in the future is very welcome and for sure I will buy DOS:2 for linux, but no more kickstarter games for me, thx.
btw I'd love to play a Divine Divinity remake using the new engine and the wonderful original soundtrack by Kirill Pokrovsky.
Keyrock Aug 13, 2015
Finally I'm going to get to play the game I helped fund that Windows and Mac users got to play OVER A YEAR AGO, in theory anyway. I really hope this new version still retains a proper PC interface with proper key rebinding and hotkeys and such along with the newly added controller-centric interface built for consoles and we're not stuck getting a "streamlined" consolized Dehanced Edition that forces the controller-centric interface on us.

As for their D: OS 2 Kickstarter, best of luck to them, but they're not getting a penny from me.

Edit: Bloody hell, the f'n system turning : O (without the space) into a f'n smiley. *sigh*

I understand completely, and you have every right to feel the way you do.

While I appreciate people are upset over the delay, I personally care more about a company working towards being able to provide stable, quality products on Linux vs how long it takes them to get there. I think giving them grief during the process isn't all that helpful.

That said, I'll wait on the Linux reviews before buying it and have no plans on backing the second Kickstarter since I don't know how well their Linux versions are going to run. But if the Linux version works well and is fun, I'd be willing to pre-order the 2nd version if that option is still around.

Oh, also, it's interesting that their dev screenshot is running on Fedora. Most companies use Ubuntu since that's what SteamOS is similar to. I think that's a good sign that this title will work across various Linux distros without problems.

I know this attitude is not right but I hope this studio will fail.

This attitude is wrong. Nothing more to add. When some make mistakes don't with them to fail. Try applying it to yourself to understand it better.
