I've always missed the epic battles from Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander with their massive experimental units, and now Planetary Annihilation: TITANS brings that into the fold.
It doesn't just bring massive units, they have also revamped maps with better choke points to duke it out over. Having more elevation in maps will be welcome, as there wasn't much of it in the original PA. Honestly, it sounds a lot closer to Total Annihilation, especially with the new maps they created with things like hilltops to fight over.
Anyone who supported them on Kickstarter gains access to it for free it seems, but if you purchased it afterwards you will have to buy it (at a discount too!). That makes me pretty happy, and will hopefully keep others happy too.
It's now showing up for me as a separate download, it wasn't before, so all is fine.
I will write up a new post with my thoughts on the revamped experience when they fix it on Linux. It tells me I am running "Classic PA" and to quit and relaunch, then nothing happens. Loading it again, and still the same thing.
I couldn't be happier about this.
Some you may have missed, popular articles from the last month:
Insta-buy! Happy days. :D

So the original gameplay of Planetary Annihilation was terrible from a StarCraft BroodWar addict's point of view. Now they made a newer version of Planetary Annihilation for $40.
Well, I guess someone will probably like it, but It's a sad day for me knowing that that person isn't going to be me.

Users are going wild over at the PA Steam Forum because DLC was promised free to EA backers @ $90 a pop. This DLC/Mod/Expansion whatever you wanna call it has made people livid - go grab your pitchforks and popcorn folks looks like we got a mutiny on our hands .

PA and what it is inspired from was nothing like Starcraft 1/2. I've played both SC games, and PA + TITANS now too, and I like them all.

I got my copy for free, so would anyone from KS. They said that in the Kickstarter update, anyone who didn't gets a discount if they already own PA.
There is nothing to get annoyed about.

Yes, I know that now after buying and playing PA earlier this year.

As you can see from the Community going wild - their "Free for Kickstarter backers" or "Early Access" has been an afterthought considering there was no pinned thread titled "Regarding Early Access & Kickstarter Backers" - also Locking users threads instead of putting out the fire by saying "We're sorry for the miscommunication, go to X Link to see we are giving free copies to those who already Paid for them".
If you disagree with my reasoning, then lets agree to disagree - regardless the PA Community is certainly ablaze over what just happened.

Early Access users do not get a free copy, I don't know where you heard that. But anyone with a copy of PA gets it a 66% off. Also those that are competing in The Mystery Mayhem are going to be receiving an e-mail soon about getting a free copy. ;)

I pointed out on the forums, after many posts whinging about EA backers not getting what KS backers (such as myself :D ) got, that KS backers paid on a promise of a game, while EA purchasers got a playable game which was pretty continually upgraded.
I feel just great about having this appear in my Steam library today, and the little "Thank You" box for having been a KS supporter made me smile. 3-4 years ago, I supported several KS games, and have certainly gotten my money's worth: Wasteland 2, Pillars of Eternity, War for the Underworld, and others, and there's Torment coming out.
Yes, I'm one very happy penguin today.

The same whining starts everytime among some players when they don't get expansions or DLCs for free. For some reason many KS and EA supporters still doesn't seem to understand the risks - sometimes projects doesn't meet all the original plans.
Developers has to pay bills too and running a company is not cheap, so Uber needs to make money to be able continue. There has been many stories about gaming companies recently that has went bankrupt or struggling badly - Larian, Obsidian, Maxis, Vigil, THQ, etc.
I'm more than happy to support companies like Uber. It is great to have RTS games for PC and can't wait to get more of them from Uber in future

Why is this standalone & not included in the original game that still isn't finished?
ps this game is inspired by the old Windows game called Total Annihlation. Which so far is still miles better than PA.
