The Forgotten Realms Archives Now On GOG For Linux, Eye Of The Beholder 1,2,3 & More!

Despite having an Amiga 600 with 200+ games and a 486 PC I never played any of these games in my days as it was mostly Doom and other id software / Build Engine games. Judging from the screenshots I probably won't like Pack 2, the graphics are no issue, but the gameplay isn't my type.

Can't say the same for pack 1 and 3 though. First person, tile based and claustrophobic, going to enjoy many nights with those, starting from tomorrow :D

Eye of the Beholder 1 and 2 came out for the Amiga, the third did not. Though from reviews I've read, the third wasn't all that good.

Most of the gold-box versions probably look better with the Amiga version over these DOS versions as well.

Sadly the one out of this group I'd REALLY love is Dungeon Hack. think Dungeon Master/EOB meets Net Hack, I believe I still have a save game on my computer of a character I had live, but I couldn't find the stairs to the next level, even after checking every square on the map for a secret door.

By the way, the Adventures Unlimited game is basically an early version of Neverwinter Nights (Read that as basically an 'engine' for creating your own games) and there are (last I looked) a large database of adventures created with it.

In any case, we hope to have all 3 collections penguin compatible sooner rather than later, we just didn't have the time to iron out the kinks from the the 3rd collection before release :) I am confident our Linux team will get to the bottom of the issues with those two games :)

So... is it done yet? ;) j/k. It's probably a good thing for now that it isn't, with my ever expanding library in Steam, and my horrible spending habits, if I had yet another game store showing me sales of games that I probably will die before I have a chance to play... Granted I would probably much rather buy through GOG anyhow, due to DRM-less software.

Keep up the good work though with bringing back some classic games!

Why paying for these games?

The answer is very easy: Because there is no difference within game mechanics at all. Most games today are only the newest generation of some mechanics invented those days. To get a concrete value for what doing today it is very helpful checking the past. Perhaps you don't like old games, but there are many people wanting to watch back. Also there were minor problems those days: No forced online check, no DRM, nothing to worry about just the game and much fun with it. These games might be old, they might be retro, but they are even better than just a cheap copy with modern graphics because they are the original. :)
