Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power is the latest in the puzzle platformer series by Frozenbyte, and they confirmed in their newsletter that the Linux and Mac versions are in development.

NewsletterFinnish game developer Frozenbyte is excited to announce that the puzzle-centric platformer, Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power will be out of Early Access and officially released on August 20th. The Windows version will be purchasable on Steam, GOG, and Humble. Mac and Linux versions are in development and due later this year.

It's great to see them speak publicly about it, but a shame it's delayed.

About the game (Official)
Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power is a fairytale journey which takes you on a quest with three heroes: Amadeus the Wizard, Pontius the Knight, and Zoya the Thief.

This tale of a grand adventure as well as the additional challenge levels provide true tests to the three heroes' skills in combat and of solving puzzles in the most creative ways.

I enjoyed the other games. I actually picked them up for the g/f to have something to play and ended up liking them myself. It is a shame the Linux version will be late.. I would have thought they had their engine easily portable by now.

Yeah, that is apparently quite common with Trine games:

I have the first two games, but atleast on my Laptop with Intel HD 4000 i wasnt able to even play the first on crappy resolution and lowest setting. The performance is horrible for a 2D game. Can someone confirm this for all versions or was it just the Linux port??
