I finally took some time to sit down with The Talos Principle in a livestream the other night, and wow I was pleasantly surprised by it. I've never been one to really get engrossed by puzzle games, as they usually end up too boring for me. Something about The Talos Principle had me completely hooked, and I ended up sinking 1.7 hours into it according to Steam.

I think having a puzzle game that's first person, and quite beautiful really helped get me into Talos. I did feel a bit stupid at the start, as I don't have to really use my brain very often while playing games. This is mainly due to being an FPS junky, but I am trying to push myself to other games to enjoy a wider variety.

Once I got the hang of it, I was able to do certain puzzles with blistering speed, and that seemed to impress our editor Samsai quite a bit. Heck, I even impressed myself with some of it!

So, what have you been playing, and what did you think to it? Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I've hit a wall in a few games: a literal wall in DeadCore (well, several of them, hurtling towards me), a nest of warpers with a shaman in Shadow Warrior, and the Absolution in Freedom Planet. I like those games, obviously, but it's frustrating.

Started playing Outland a couple of days ago and can't put it down. Very good platforming, decent combat, looks pretty, good difficulty balance, tight controls, works great on Linux.

Playing LEGO Hobbit (under Wine) co-op with my 11-year old daughter. We finished Lego Harry Potter a few weeks back and plan to go through all the LEGO games together (which is good since I really doubt I'd play them solo).

Playing some "casual" adventures (mostly Artifex Mundi), mostly when I'm tired, but at least in expert mode for a decent challenge.

Finally, looking for a decent RPG to get into. I'm almost half-way through Torchlight II and getting bored with it - I know it's an ARPG but it just feels like an expanded version of the original, which was nice enough but nothing special for me.

Shadow Warrior on Linux, what a excellent example of a port. 4k resolution all on ultra 60fps...

Also been playing ARK, which is a example of a BAD BAD port to Linux, possible to get working OK but has major issues.

Finished my second go through of Shadow Warrior a few weeks back, and I am also playing through CLARC at the moment as I can not really get into anything more involving until the honey flow stops. Seems okay, although they really should allow you to rotate with the mouse rather than the keyboard.

I've been playing Dungeon Crawl: Stone Soup. It's a constantly evolving free fantasy roguelike and becoming more accesible to everyone with every update. It's probably the hardest roguelike I've played and has a fairly attractive tileset (but you could always go for the text-based interface like I do, too, use your imagination more ;).

Also been knee-deep in the summer Gun Mettle update for Team Fortress 2.

This War of Mine has been an emotional ride I'll never forget. It's a great example of a story-heavy game that has good gameplay to match, neither one of them overrides the other and both serve each other well.

TIS-100, it's programming-like, at least, but teaches nothing but basic commands, a text version of Spacechem. It's good to hone one's logic muscles, and printing the manual really is quite useful.

I'm currently playing Age of Wonders 3. It's a solid fantasy strategy and a solid port. It has its annoyances though, but overall I'm enjoying it greatly.
