In PULSAR: Lost Colony you must man a spaceship with up to 4 other players or AI players with each player given their own role on the ship. You have the captain as the team leader, pilot to steer the ship, engineer to repair and maintain the ship's subsystems, a scientist to scan surrounding areas for hostiles and to wage electronic warfare and the weapons officer to keep weapons such as turrets, missiles and even nukes pointed at the enemy.

The game takes place in a randomly generated galaxy with thousands of systems with various things to find or fight. You can fight and board AI-controlled ships, trade goods and explore various planets.

Some thoughts:

The game is currently in beta phase and still under quite heavy development. The game is lacking multiple planned features but the basic stuff is in there. Luckily the pretty quick to update their game and recently they have been pushing new versions out about every 2-4 weeks. You can check out their update videos here.

I've played the game during Alpha phase due to me being a Kickstarter backer of the game and while it has definitely improved quite a bit, there are still some rough edges here and there. Performance can also be quite bad at times and Liam has reported that he has encountered multi-monitor resolution resolution problems. The audio also has some high-pitch “white noise” that can be annoying.

The game is also very co-op oriented and while it has bots that will run around and do basic tasks, it's nowhere near as fun or as coordinated as playing with real people. If you are planning on buying the game, check if you have friends that are interested in playing the game with you. Oh, and prepare for bugs.

We will no doubt cover this game in more detail soon.

Sadly, the battlestar GOLACTICA lasted all of 11 minutes after jumping into a system with enemy ships, and my weapons guy who joined my game couldn't hold them off. R.I.P GOLACTICA 1!

I remember a game that was like this a while ago which was a proposed KS game on steam or something. It had you actually start on a planet and build a spaceship from scratch.

I DO NOT believe it is Empyrion as it had you build piping and engine rooms etc, and looked less blocky. They made a youtube video showing it off with someone in the game also, had a buggy drive out of the ships loading bay.

NE1 know what game I talk about? did they die?
