Saints Row 2 Looks Like It's Coming To Linux

Ok, the Saints Row Series is now a Deep silver Game series and we know: Deep Silver loves Linux.

I think we get all Deep Silver titles on Linux/SteamOS.

Mighty No. 9 is now a Deep Silver Title and will have a day one Linux release.

If they're porting over Saints Row 2, I wonder if they're planning on porting over some of their older titles. Is it Sacred 2 that was also by Deep Silver?

Nice to hear about, but this is only with DRM again. So what is the profit playing the game and having a proprietary client running in the background? Hope the versions for Linux are also available on GOG for example otherwise they can keep it. DRM, no buy from my side and I don't get it why there is so much excitement about a DRM-release on Steam. :)

Many of us, like me, find Steam to be the most useful out of any store. The Steam client community features, auto updates etc. Can't get that on any other store.

yeah like liamdawe said.. autoupdates, everything in one place, community features etc.
there were times when i pirated games, like 10-12 years ago, because it was easier than buying and running CD all the time in your drive.. but since buying is made so easy now its not worth to pirate anymore and everything is up to date and ready for gaming with few clicks. dont really care if i dont "own" this game 20-30 years later when maybe steam is going offline or not.. i have had my time to enjoy those for the money i payed.

No problem with that. But the major conflict is how the distribution of software using this kind of platform works: Buying and using means also giving up some ballot paper for every purchase. Everything afterwards is nothing more of interest for the companies and with every purchase there is a decision done through the majority of users, so the minority has to live with that. And from my point of view this also means giving up the freedom of Linux.. It is funny that some users here have problems with usage of proprietary blobs from NVidia and then giving this canticle on another proprietary toolset. :) And the final words are as always in such discussions: "I have no problem with not owning the software." Then let me ask: What is the meaning of Linux? Just another operating-system? Or some kind of idealistic view? For me the last one as I don't want to owned by some platform and the ruleset coming up with: My rules, my decisions. I don't want to blame anybody using Steam but it should always be clear what this platform stands for and what is behind it.

Just as a side note: I know about the Facebook-icon under my profile, but this is in fact my profile on Diaspora. As I said: Everybody can decide in his own. ;)

I know: Bought them because Darksiders run very good with WINE and the hope is there that GOG gets the license for the Linux-versions of the other ones. But until now we have the same problem as always: GOG is trying and some publishers just ignore this. Happened yesterday again with Dungeons 2: There is a native Linux-version and the game is released only for Windows and Mac. I've contacted GOG and they've told me that they are working hard on getting also the permissions to release for Linux and I believe them. But the problem is as always the publishers and their will supporting DRM-free releases. Perhabs there is happening a wonder because I've also never believed having Fallout again on GOG and for now Bethesda is there also with Doom. :)

Speaking of Darksiders, weren't both of them supposed to be on Linux by now?
