Well now, this is unexpected. It seems we may be getting quite a few of the Saints Row games, as Saints Row: The Third is showing signs of coming to Linux.
Like with the second game, this info comes from SteamDB:
Quote55241/config/oslist: linux
55241/name: Saints Row: The Third Port Linux
launch/1/config/oslist: linux
launch/1/executable: ./saintsrow3
launch/1/type: default
Obviously it's still unconfirmed, but with this now on the second and third Saints Row, it looks like it's no accident.
As usual, we urge you not to buy it until release. This way you can be sure you count as a Linux sale, and just in case the port doesn't actually surface.
About the game (Official)
Years after taking Stilwater for their own, the Third Street Saints have evolved from street gang to household brand name, with Saints sneakers, Saints energy drinks and Johnny Gat bobble head dolls all available at a store near you.
The Saints are kings of Stilwater, but their celebrity status has not gone unnoticed. The Syndicate, a legendary criminal fraternity with pawns in play all over the globe, has turned its eye on the Saints and demands tribute. Refusing to kneel to the Syndicate, you take the fight to Steelport, a once-proud metropolis reduced to a struggling city of sin under Syndicate control.
Take a tank skydiving, call in a satellite-targeted airstrike on a Mexican wrestling gang, and defend yourself against a highly-trained military force using only a sex toy in the most out- landish gameplay scenarios ever seen, igniting a city-wide war that will set Steelport on fire. Strap it on.
Thanks again for the poke dubigrasu
Some you may have missed, popular articles from the last month:
The Third is definitely the best one. Four is alright. Quite fun for a while but it looses it's shine fast. You end up completing it for the story not the gameplay.

Unfortunately, the Linux version of this game will be Steam exclusive, like both Metro Redux games.. That's sad..
I want my games DRMFREE... I like to own my games, and not to rent them.
I have a love-hate relationship with Steam...
Steam is a DRM. I dont like DRM.... But Steam is on Linux and like the Linux philosophy, that why I'm gonna make another Steam account only for use it on Linux.

I will rebuy all of these if they release for Linux. I can easily live with Steam based DRM -- better that than being totally ignored as a AAA publishing platform.

I am not an authority to speak on this and I am rather lazy about looking into the Terms of Service, but I am quite sure that if you buy games on steam, you legally own them. Some years back, Gabe Newell wowed that if by any chance Steam goes under, they will give people the option to download and save the games and play them without Steam, but who knows how would that go.

in most simple case they would just provide steam client lib which would avoid running/working with steam for game and use basic functionality only. but, this is just my guess and not something one should hold breath over it.

Hopefully this means Saints Row IV is on it's way to Linux as well.

YES! PLEASE! I bought this game a year+ ago, just a few days before I switched to Linux. I liked it but that experience was cut short as to my surprise it didn't run well in WINE, unlike most of my other games. I can't wait to play it again, it looked like a fun game that I could like. :D
I never even hoped for a port for this game, just as I didn't hope for Medieval 2 TW, Torchlight 2, Terraria and many others. This looks promosing and if this is for real and will happen, then I will never say never again, when it comes to Linux ports :D
