In a move that completely baffles me, Valve has stated that they have no plans to have their Dota 2 Workshop Tools on anything other than Windows.

You can find the comment in question on github here:
QuoteSorry but there are no plans to support the Workshop Tools on anything other than Windows.

I wouldn't suggest commenting on the bug report, as it won't really accomplish anything.

It's moves like this, that to me, seems to show Valve aren't truly invested in their SteamOS/Linux push. Don't get me wrong, I'm seriously grateful for what they are doing and have done so far. It just feels like we get sidelined as usual for everything else.

Valve know how important their content creators are for sure, so I just simply don't understand why they don't allow us to make content for their games using their tools on Linux. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

all in due time, if and when steam OS gains more momentum in the market we may see more development. but until then might as well just sit back and relax and enjoy the games. for now there's a lot of development to be had in other areas first before we start seeing tools ported to Linux on a regular basis.
I wished all this would come to fruition sooner as well but it's not realistically possible. Windows has had decades of developer devotion to game development. all this is just getting started for Linux, yet I've seen leaps and bounds already. so we just have to wait and see over the next couple of years what will happen. I think Valve still has a few surprises up their sleeves that will come out over the next few months.
