Albion Online MMORPG Closed Beta Date Announced

By -
Albion Online is looking likely to be the most interesting MMORPG available on Linux, and their closed beta test has been announced for November.

To get access you will have needed to support them by buying a founder pack (my referral link), but luckily we will have you covered as we have a copy and I will personally be covering it during the beta. I'm excited, as we have practically nothing like this on Linux, and it does look very promising.

It starts on the 23rd, 24th or 25th of November 2015 depending on what level you backed it at. I will gain access on the 25th as I only purchased the lower end of the founder packs. It will be free to play when officially released, but paying will gain you little extra bits.

Will you be playing as well? Let me know. We should form a big GOL guild. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I want a good MMO on linux however I'm just sick of mining and gathering in a freaking MMO. Minecraft ruined video games forever. MMO's DO NOT NEED (*forced) CRAFTING! I'm a viking, I can also sew, cook and create jewelry because you never know when you need to craft rings on a friggen raid. Like GW was so great then GW2 comes along and shoves a crap ton of things you need to do because you need to be able to craft armor.. DUMB.

*edit: just to be clear, crafting in any game is fine, when it is a skill that needs (read: forces you to) grinding so you can get armor or whatever it's a bad mechanic. To me (who started with EQ in 98) if I'm not out slaying I'm not playing. Proudly I never played WoW either so the cartoon graphic stuff is lost on me.

Hmh, being a long lasting Tibia player this game certainly looks interesting to me.

But I'll wait for the release to decide weather I'll buy it or not.

Just watched some videos, something is wrong with this game for me, but don't know what is it O_o
I think i stick to Shroud of the Avatar yet, and maybe if this one releasing, i give it a chance.

Quoting: MaelraneIf you are not into sandboxes and pvp, then you are simply not the target audience. Easy as that. In the early days of mmorpgs, there were very few examples of instanced dungeons and stuff like that.

what does sandboxes MMORPG means? I have newer played Ultima online so I do not know. Is it like My online?

I go over this here, at the beginning (a bit): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBo80fpUKXY

(Sorry for the unashamed self-promoting)

I'll gladly cover some gaming in the beta. I do hope the combat was fleshed out as that part was the least fun to me. It felt rather static, but that may just be me of course. I mean, I've grown older since my UO, AoC, WAR, WoW, LoTR and MO days :D

Watching some movies on the web I've the feeling we'll see very huge polish and brazilian guilds who will try to dominate and dictate the whole game.

I won't stick with SotA ... the scenes / permanent zoning and long loading times without SSD is just annoying me out of mind.

Not to mention Shroud is in a constant state of flux right now (with regular wipes), Albion Online is much further along in development.
