Delay, after delay it's been a bit of a long haul to see Divinity on Linux, but if our source is correct, all editions will see a release on October 27th. Larian previously stated the Linux version of the Enhanced Edition would see a day-1 Linux release, so let's hope they keep to their word. I won't be very amused if it is delayed again, as that would pretty much take the biscuit after all the delays.

This is... 15 months after its release on Windows, right? No wonder I'd forgotten about this, other than the occasional reminder popping up here or r/linux_gaming. Not sure if I'll pick this up, but if it's as good as everyone was making out, then it's probably worth punting some money at them.

About a year ago I was really excited for this. Now I just can't get hyped anymore. Larian have also done pretty much everything they could to make me lose all trust in them, so I want to see this actually running on Linux before I believe it exists and works. I hate being this negative about a game coming to Linux, but in this case I'll wait and see and maybe get it later.

Actually their second kickstarter did have FAQ entry quite clearly stating that their sole focus would be windows and that they would perhaps consider Mac and Linux after release. Maybe. I think the language was something like "we wouldn't rule it out".
So... D: OS2 expected Dec 2016, give it the same 8 to 10 month slippage that the first game experienced, add 15 to 18 months for the Linux version... so roughly Christmas 2018. Hmmm.
I'll pass.

Anyway, I'll be passing this one. I'm currently playing the Witcher III and Fallout IV is just a month away. Instead of Divinity, I'll probably give Wastelend 2 a chance, once its enhanced edition is out. It's been collecting dust in my library since release.

Heh. When I first read their FAQ, that "Mac/Linux/Console" bit wasn't there. It just said "other platforms" or similar, not mentioning Linux by name.
I still don't believe it, though. :P

Yeah, I'm and sure they said that they'd spent all that time on the Extended/Enhanced Edition so that their platform would be agnostic for future titles. And then, before the new Edition is even close to ready, they launch a Kickstarter with that kind of message.

Worst thing about all this though is the developer reinforcement - "waah, our game hardly sold any Linux units... we're not supporting Linux again". Although I suspect most studios are seeing past that lie now.

Yes, they are (belatedly) supporting Linux, but so are a lot of other developers who are frankly more deserving of our money.

Yep, that's pretty much when I stopped believing anything they say with regard to Linux. Also makes me wary of how well their engine (and thus D :OS) really works for Linux if it's still considered a port and still requires so much extra effort to release. But I guess we'll see about that at the end of the month... maybe.

Just noticed there is also no mention of Linux on their preorder page. At the bottom it lists PS4, XB1, PC, and Mac. Unless they consider Linux as PC, which I doubt in this case. Since the site is mainly about console pre-orders, I wouldn't think too much of it if it wasn't for the Mac logo.
