Telltale games are highly rated, so it's pretty exciting to see the possibility of Minecraft: Story Mode on Linux.
It seems quite a few people feel it's not as good as previous Telltale games, going by user reviews anyway. I've not had a chance to play any of their previous games since they don't support Linux.
According to SteamDB it seems like it will come to Linux:
QuoteChanged App Config
launch/2/config/osarch: 64
launch/2/config/oslist: linux
launch/2/description: Launch
launch/2/executable: Minecraft
launch/2/type: none
And also:

savefiles/3/path: Telltale Games/Minecraft

This would be the first Telltale game on Linux, so it may be possible for future games to come too.

Some you may have missed, popular articles from the last month:
I couldn't care less about minecraft and doubt I'll get this, but if this means we're getting more telltale games then that's super exciting! I was looking at The Wolf Among Us, The Walking Dead, Tales of Monkey Island, Sam & Max, etc checking for any news to see if they'd get ported and looks like this is the first sign.
Never got to play any of these since they were all on Windows (I think that Monkey Island game was on the Wii as well?) but always heard really good things and kept my eye on them. I'm pretty sure they all run on their in-house engine, so fingers crossed we get the other games.

I agree, and if this uses the same engine as previous games then it makes it more likely.

Well, this is a surprise. IIRC, icculus pinged Telltale several times in the past...10? years about wanting to port their games, but they always ignored him.
I'm not sure this really means the older games will see a GNU/Linux release. They still haven't ported their games that predate their Mac OS X support, right?

Seems like all these popular franchise games they've made in the last few years have been nothing more than choose-your-own-adventure style interactive stories with loads of quicktime events. I would be interested in playing pretty much anything they released up until Back to the Future: The Game and Puzzle Agent 2 from 2011, but the rest of them not so much. Don't really know much about this latest one but I've never player minecraft so it's probably not for me either. Reviews certainly aren't very encouraging.
EDIT: It's a bit funny that their first Linux game will be for a franchise owned by MS.

Quoting: tuubiBack to the Future: The GamePersonally, I found that quite mediocre. It played...like middling fan-fiction. Ditto with Wallace & Gromit and Tales of Monkey Island.
The Sam and Max seasons, those I always quite liked. And I'm still sad they never produced more Bone episodes.
As for the newer ones, I only played the first season of The Walking Dead. I thought it was really good, though.
Still, I never quite managed to shake the feeling that their engine is a bit wonky and held together by duct tape. There were just lots of weird glitches that felt off, that made me lose trust in the stability of the whole thing. But that's maybe just me.

Haha, maybe they read my blog post.

Joking aside, this is a good start. Their games are not for everyone and their games sometimes disappear when licensing agreements run out, but it is fairly solid entertainment.

This game has also been released on GOG yesterday: https://www.gog.com/game/minecraft_story_mode
I'd probably buy this if it were to come on Linux. I'm not a very big fan of Episodic games, the only Telltale title I own is Tales of Monkey Island, that one's pretty fun and runs well in Wine :)

Agreeing to both!
Never played any of the new style interactive story Telltale games, but I would definitely want to try one - if it is just not Minecraft!

Wow, this is certainly interesting. Like others, I'm not even remotely interested in this particular game, but I'd love to see everything up until Hector and the first Puzzle Agent available for Linux. I dual-booted back then, and have played them all (minus CSI), but I'd buy them again on GOG or Steam if they get ported.

I don't care about this game in the slightest bit, but if this leads to Tales from the Borderlands coming to Linux then this is awesome news.
Funny thing, I don't care for playing Borderlands at all, in terms of gameplay. I picked up Borderlands 2 when it first made its way to Linux and wound up hating the game. I hated the gameplay, hated how the weapons handled/felt, hated the bullet sponge bosses, and hated the skill trees, but I really liked the world and the characters. So when Tales from the Borderlands was announced, that got my attantion. A story-driven game in that world without any of the crappy FPS gameplay and weaksauce levelling was music to my ears.
