Not the news I expected to hit my inbox this week. Fishing Planet an online fishing game aimed at realism is heading to Linux.

I found an interesting video on it, and it looks okay:

The developer confirmed it's coming on their Steam forum:
QuoteNext week we will start Linux tests. Along with a SteamOS tests.

About the game
Fishing Planet is a unique and highly realistic online first-person multiplayer fishing simulator developed by avid fishing enthusiasts for anglers to bring you the full thrill of actual angling! Choose your lures, make your trophy catches, discover new possibilities and sharpen your real angling skills anywhere, anytime with your friends!

Not sure how many of you it will interest, could be amusing, could be as boring as fishing in real life!

Quoting: inlinuxdude
Quoting: maodzedunYeah, but in simulators you're actually doing something. In these games you're essentially doing nothing in front of a lit monitor. I don't know - I guess to each his own, but I won't get it in a million years.

Have you ever been fishing in real life, sir? There is a whole ton of strategy involved (as well as some luck). The more you learn about fishing, and the more effectively you employ the strategies you learn, the more fish you will catch. It is almost like a real life vidya game in itself. So, not only can you replicate that on your electronic device, but if it is a good simulator, and can help teach and develop this myriad of strategies that can help one to become a better real life fisherman (or woman), as well as having a blast while playing the simulator.

^^ This. Yes you are right.

But i have seen a live stream and it's a good looking Simulator.

Whoa, this one looks WAY better than Euro Fishing! And it has trout DLC! It's free to play, so I'm obviously going to give it a shot.

PS: fishing is only boring in real life if you suck at it. :P
