After a short beta period Magicka 2 is now officially available for the roll out of Steam Machines, and for those of us on normal Linux desktops too of course. They accidentally pushed it out earlier, removed it again and now it's officially out.

I wonder how many "now on Linux" posts I'm going to be doing today, a few I hope!

I tested it out on the beta briefly and the performance was really quite good, and their communication on the forum has been great. I'm still impressed that the developers added in specific graphical settings you can adjust to help the performance on AMD GPU's, that's really great to see.

I will most likely arrange some games across this week online to celebrate, and will livestream some of them.

About the game (Official)
The world’s most irreverent co-op action adventure returns! In the next chapter of Magicka, players ascend from the ruins of Aldrheim to experience a Midgård almost wiped free of Wizards after the Wizard Wars, with the few that do remain having either gone mad or extremely hostile toward all others.

To rid the world of evil, again, up to four Wizards, and their guide Vlad, will traverse Midgård armed with the next iteration of the famous Magicka dynamic spellcasting system, as players reprise their roles as the most overpowered, unpredictably funny Wizards ever known to fantasy!

Find Magicka 2 on Steam here.

Ah my bad with the time, I had the area slightly wrong heh the US is confusing with lots of timezones.
No worries, Liam, it's a confusing country... in many ways, even for someone who has spent the majority of their life here. :D

Interesting that no Steam Machine is on the main page, nor that Magicka 2 is on the "new" section, and it's not even in the Discovery Queue.

It is available. Just like Universe Simulator, it was a game I missed from my dual-boot days, and now there is a new version for us! There are, however, a lot of negative reviews, 33% of them :S: .

No complaints here, except for Steam defaulting to GOL for me to know it's even available. As usual, Thanks, Liam!.

I'd venture to say Russia is a confusing country as well..

Off topic, but I just got a Steam Client update which finally sorts the Big Picture mode Store for my platform - namely Linux. Now that is leaving things to the last minute...!

Sadly got it for free this month with PS-plus.... so no incentive to get the linux version :(

Please Project: CARS or GRID: Autosport. Please Project: CARS or GRID: Autosport. Please Project: CARS or GRID: Autosport. Please Project: CARS or GRID: Autosport. Please Project: CARS or GRID: Autosport.

Seriously, I'm starved for a racing game.

Flat Out 1 and 2 are on linux on GOG... ;)

Did you pick up DiRT: Showdown when it was 85% off? I've done every trick, lap and takeout in that game and NO ONE dares challenge me (I'm looking at you LiamD, ignoring all my challenges :-) )

I hope you are as well, but currently the Steam landing page is curiosly absent of any big fanfare. Im hoping that is because of the time difference and when the USA comes online steam will be loud and proud about SteamOS's release today. I will be severely dissappointed if today passes as if it is any other day for valve.
Huh... I didn't even know SteamOS was officially releasing today.

Yeah, same for Grow Home… not a trace of it on Steam’s home page… sigh.

I thought you knew. The Steam webmaster is a monkey.

Yeah I noticed this one in the patch notes, though I didn't check it, because I never use Big Picture mode.

The game works fine, I get 60fps with RadeonSI using a AMD Radeon R9 290 and Mesa 11 dev.
The game has a little graphics glitch in some areas and when I close the game it continue running, I have to kill the process manually.

So it's a "now available" message.
Hm.
They did more when Steam for Linux was out of beta.
I liked the idea of a special Team Fortress item for playing on Linux...

No thanks, I meant a real racing game. :P On a serious note, I'm not into that gymkhana stuff. Were it practically any other game in the DiRT series that came to Linux, I would already won it.

This launch is looking pretty disappointing so far. I wasn't expecting an explosion of games, but I was hoping for at least 1 MAJOR title to release for Linux to coincide with the Steam Machines launch, and, no offense to Magicka 2 and Grow Home, but those don't exactly fit the bill.

The Long Dark has launched as well. Seems some indie developers have taken the date more serious than Valve...
