A moderator for Rocket League has noted it is being worked on for Linux, and it their reply about it was quite funny.
You can see the Steam forum reply about it here:
QuoteSteamOS/Linux version is definitely being worked on.
I listen to the cries of the guy working on it all the time. :P
Sounds like they are having a few issues here and there! Amusing reply though, and good to see it hasn't silently been dropped. Quite a different attitude to the Mad Max moderator, and nice to see.
About the game
Soccer meets driving once again in the long-awaited, physics-based sequel to the beloved arena classic, Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars!
A futuristic Sports-Action game, Rocket League, equips players with booster-rigged vehicles that can be crashed into balls for incredible goals or epic saves across multiple, highly-detailed arenas. Using an advanced physics system to simulate realistic interactions, Rocket League relies on mass and momentum to give players a complete sense of intuitive control in this unbelievable, high-octane re-imagining of association football.

I'll probably buy the Steam controller when Rocket League comes out on linux as it's still free with the controller, right? But then it won't be a Linux sale... .

Since they said it will come out very soon I'm checking every few hours, I'm really excited about this game coming to Linux. Like a lot of people I hoped that the game would come out on Nov 10th, so I'm still waiting but if this is necessary to have a game without bugs and performances issues I don't mind.

From Steam:
For customers who have already pre-ordered the Steam Controller or Steam Link on Steam prior to Aug 27th:
You will receive free copies of Rocket League and Portal 2. They will be added to your Steam account by September 4th.

Too bad. I really want to play that game. But the longer it takes the better it will be optimized, or?

And if he can hear the cries of the guy working on it, then it must be an in-house port as well.

They were advertised on Steam as being free bonuses right up until the official release day, not just until August 27th. But still, the answer is no, not free anymore. You snooze, you lose, as the saying goes.

There's delays one can understand - almost expect - and then there's delays that makes me worried. This is one of those.
Wasn't this supposed to be ready at the launch of the Steam controller? Were'nt they so sure about that, that they even marketed it as a launch preorder bonus?

I don't think they've stated it would be ready by SteamOS launch. They always said it would be ready by the end of this year. But, of course you would think Valve might have been convinced at some point it was going to be ready at that time.
I'm not worried. Their attitude is great so far.

Can't play with 'em - just Linux here.
I call on tenretnI in all her pasta goodness to touch the all powerful ones that control resources for the Linux conversion of Rocket League. May all their wants and wishes be granted.
